My best to you Oz. Be strong in these hard times. We are all sending possitive thoughts your way.
Like I suspect everyone else not in your neck of the woods, I'm feeling awful powerless in that there's nothing to do to help you folks, but fervently hoping things turn around soon. Hang in there.
Good Lord, enough is enough. I can't imagine what it must be like for you and your country to go through this. Take care.
That about sums it up. It's really a challenge physically & emotionally but we just keep saying "Not today"
Was so sad to hear of the US air tanker that went down at Numeralla yesterday. 3 crew lost. These guys n gals in the air & on on the ground are legends.
A bit cooler today with lighter winds. Hopefully some more showers.
Speaking of winds the westerly last night took down our fence. Now my neighbours dog has a bigger back yard :roflmao
Anyhoo thanx to all you guys for your good vibes & well wishes.
Hang in there my friend! As has been said: The Aussies are a Rough and Tumble Bunch.
My dad loved Australian Rules Football!
Good luck to you and everyone there. I went through the 2017 Wildfires here in British Columbia and spent 2 months evacuation (1 forced, 1 just good sense). I work in mental health and even today around 30% of the people I see can trace whatever it is they're dealing with back to the fires -- some of which seem totally unrelated, like a car accident or how losing their dog a year later seems to affect them disproportionately. In my experience, the people who did best were the ones who could turn the tragedy into a way to come together. Reading over this thread, it seems that exactly that is one of the things happening here! Good luck.
So things have been heating up here again. Brought in some air support finally. We got one big fella & a 900 & 500 litre. They're filling from the farmers dam behind my house as it's the closest point to the fires. They're doing about 1.48 min turnarounds so it's close.
What have they done with the 20 people they caught starting fires?
