They say that if the US economy worsens (which it will) and the Greek economy defaults (which it will) then our dollar will plummet. It's interesting that considering the overall strength of our economy, our high interest rates and our reasonably low unemployment, we get 'punished' because of poor economies O/S. Then again, I'm a little gloomy and suspect the Chinese economy will slow massively. I think one day, in a dim and sorry future, we'll be a little pissed off that we dug up our minerals and shipped them off overseas, sold our prime farmland, shipped all our manufacturing jobs overseas and sold our coal reserves. I was listening to something the other day about 'no tillage' farming. Sounds wonderful until you learn that it only works if you pour herbicides on the land. And then it gets a little concerning when you hear that some weeds now have built up a resistance to those herbicides, much like bacteria and the overuse of anti-biotics. Now I don't need to produce enough food on my 1/4 of an acre block to feed the family, but I haven't used ANY chemicals for the last 14 years. I use only cow poo retrieved from over the fence to fertilise. It's amazing how many insects there are in my garden, all working 'in sync'. I've no idea why I decided to start ranting about the environment...
