Good luck and stay safe.

I had a few tastless jokes spring to mind, but that's me, and this isn't the time or the place in light of how serious the situation is. Stay safe you blokes, and if you catch any of the little b@stards that have lit some of them, give them a real hard kick up the @rse from me too.

Yeah - thoughts with those in danger.
At least where Mick and i are there is only smoke inhalation come on the wind from a long way off. Not POTD type stuff unfortunately.
Hey Mick - a "kick" won't do it. i say execution is the best way to stop repeat offences and stop breeding {like breeds like by association}.
Adam.
yes, be safe all
Agreed Adam. They should be place on attempted murder charges as a minimum when they're caught IMO. I don't know how healthy my evening 10km stroll has been of late either. Just about choke to death. At least the dog is a damn sight closer to the ground, and thus fresher air.

God's speed to all in harms way from these terrible fires.
Been reported here in the US. May God be with you all.
God bless each of you, God bless Australia!
I seen this on the news today hope that it gets under control and put out soon.
Not likely, but they're working on it. The problem is catching the mongrels with the matches. The majority of these fires are man made by accident (few) or design (most of them).

A couple of years ago we had a 'person' driving around the Adelaide hills where I live chucking 'incendiary devices' into the bush for WEEKS. I won't tell you what the device was, just in case it gives people ideas, but it was a very common item.
I tell you the constant fires was really, really worrying. Luckily we here in SA so far haven't had many fires this season, but the fuel load is huge.
Perhaps they could 'volunteer' to hold some Fig 11's for a range practice?
Reminds me of the time I was doing bunker duty at the range. I was looking at the fall of the rounds into the earth backstop mound, while waiting for the shooting to stop, and drop the target for patching out, when I realised something was getting uncovered by the loosening dirt. I pointed it out to my Corporal who recognised the old Morter round for what it was. A cease fire was called and range practice finished for that day, while the situation was sorted out. I reckon we might have come close to being fig.11's ourselves that day. :)

Cobbers,
we have been lucky so far here in the West, with only a few minor fires, pretty amazing due to a huge fuel load. I think the mug wallopers have been keeping a close dekko on the firebugs. A couple of small scrub fires have been due to stolen cars being torched. Good luck to you blokes in the east. and Tassy. We have a new heat wave brewing for next week.
Cheers
Gordon
WOW.... that takes me back..... ahhhhh. i bet that was the loudest "STOP STOP STOP.... UNLOAD!!!!!" that you have ever heard on range control haha...... followed by a few "faaaaaaaaaaaaaaaaaaaaaaaaaaaaaaaaarrrrrrrrrrrrrk! !!!!"
Well anyway. good luck to those out in the fires, i was there black saturday.... i never want to see that again.... firebugs have a special place in hell.... somewhere where they can feel the devastation that their fires caused and they live for eternity with their skin melting everyday.

Actually, it was a calm controlled and commanding (read forceful) call of CEASE FIRE, CEASE FIRE by the Cpl. over the field radio I would ever have expected, given the situation. The Sargeant, upon recieving the good news, did however, follow the report up with a soiled undies sounding faaaaaaaaaaaaaaaaaaaaaaaaaaaaaaarrrrrrrrrrrk! Before ordering an unload and downing of all weapons.
If I were a religious man I would be hopeful of your final thoughts on the subject of arsonists as well. I hadn't heard much news of late, and I thought it would have all been under control by now, but it appears to be far from it, sadly. More people with no homes, pets and livestock injured or killed. Some poor bloke found dead in his burnt out car, having been cut off by the flames. Fire brigade almost in a similar situation with a TV cameraman caught out with them, filming the whole thing. That would have been a frightening experience!
