I love the old west look too and wanted something a little different than an off the shelf hat. Cowboy hats are my signiture head gear. I think my sons are a little embarrassed by me when i wear a straw hat and shorts in the summer.(with socks and sandles to complete the outfit),but that's what Dads are for! :)
The only time you'll ever see me wearing a ball cap.

Obviously I'm not very good at taking selfies
I have that exact hat. I have only worn mine once since I bought it new in about 2002 ish, but yes, it's a GREAT hat. It's hanging on a Hall Tree in the entrance Foyer of my Florida home. I'll see if I can find a pic of it for you. If not, you'll have to wait until I get back to Florida after this lockdown mess clears up a bit.
Here's a picture of me with my favorite hat and my dog.

I've been thinking of getting a hat. I normally wear baseball hats on weekends and for some reason I always wear one on long car drives. I've been thinking of getting something nicer--maybe a fedora of some sort. Since not a lot of men wear hats right now, are there some good choices I can wear casually that wouldn't be too off the wall?
I wear a baseball type cap much of the time and prefer it while driving and not interfering with the headrest.
Here is where my Dobbs rests most of the time while driving.

Those always remind me of "Andy Capp", good memories.
I like your Dobbs hat. There’sa hat store in an outlet mall not too far from me. I’m getting ideas of what I’d like.
Love flat caps. Here is one of them:

It's one my son knitted for me. There's a sentence you never thought you'd hear yourself say. Anyway, I wanted a long tailed knit cap. Ask and ye shall receive I guess. It was sort of a joke (he has an interesting sense of humor) more of a novelty really but his point was to make a hat that could also be used as a scarf. This one is about 15 feet long so it is not really practical but he has made some since that would actually be quite useful for that purpose at about 6 to 8 feet long.
Winter scarf/cap for a giraffe?
Finally added another Stetson with a Gus crease in Brown, I REALLY hated the factory band, so I spent a little more and got one sent over from Montana from a guy that makes them at his home
Braided Horse Hair Band
I did just a little tweaking on the brim to turn down the front and back, into more of an Outlaw style.
