Restoring Order and Sanity to My Dinner Table!

Very neat gadget , but I have something better, it's called grandpa and dad don't play that crap in my home they just aren't allowed at meal times and never have since they began, and now my grandchildren obey the rule too, plus I never was one to allow that much tv and phone during family time , maybe I,m a mean ole grouch , but in our family we have what is called our time, it doesn't include gadgets Tc

At my supper table there has been no music, no tv playing and no electronic devices aloud. Discussions on any topic were permitted, much to the shagrin of my father in law. Silly topics abounded and everyone in the house was required to attend. You did not have to eat but you did have to sit at the table no matter how grumpy or sad or angry to were. As a result of this having started when the kids were very young, we have had a free flow of information. People often would ask how it is that I managed to get my teens and often their teens to talk to me all the time. I used to say you have to start young and send a whole lot of time listening! The supper table was a great place for that.

Shaun, that is a good habit you got into..Would have made a difference when mine were young,, maybe..Sunday's were always tablebound, but during the week,, not so much..ate on the go for sports etc..
I still want that pepper mill though.. :)

Worked fine didn't it Shaun! Unplugged and open conversing , my family learned slot and my kids have continued with it. Tc

Since my son was small, he always wanted Nintendo, video games, ,, later Wi-Fi ,,, I phone,,, my reply has always been the same,,

I have not bought any of my children a single cell phone. How ever everyone did get their own laptop computer, as a graduation present. All other devices were purchased by their handwork and savings. Work and work ethics were and are very important around here. I maintain if you have to earn it you will enjoy it more.
