    Spent the weekend finishing the body work snd then hitting it all over again with some epoxy primer.
    Course, I found a couple more pinholes and a few dings I missed. All depends on the lighting for sure..
    Anyway, bit of glaze tomorrow, and hopefully I’ll get the 2k on before the 48 hour application window closes ,

    Ya know it’s amazing how many times one can tell oneself that they are done, and believe it, only to see some other little detail that proves you wrong, hehe

    Put a clean paper towel/ shop rag…on your hand …then feel the panels with your hand. It acts as an enhancer….

    Well that trick added a couple days more sanding, ness, but necessary and the 2k went on today, 4 coats and abou 3/4 gallon used so as I block her all down, if I missed anything I have a few coats left in the can..
    Hopefully painting by next weekend, or the next warm day thereabouts.
    Do you lay base and clear same day? Or time in between?

    priming and painting a car is a lot more work than I thought it was. I dont know half of what you got going on, Mike. But I guess its the way it needs to be. I figured you sanded smooth, spray primer, then paint. I will stick to driving.

    Jerry it’s a lot more work than I thought it was too! Hehe
    But that’s a back to metal, from the ground up job. Normal patch work would be way easier.
    Tonight I sprayed some guide coat flat black across everything in anticipation of final blocking even though that won’t be for a day ,at least, depending on temperatures.

    What color is your car going to be ? Solid color or Metallic ? Your using a base coat / clear coat ..correct ? Put the base on…don’t try to make it shine …just get it on there. 4 -5 coats with 15-20 minute flash in between coats. You want to make sure you have good coverage and not see any shadows of primer. Pick a warm day if possible… you’d like to have at least 65 degrees F flowing through the garage. Just remember you have to have an air inlet on the opposite the side of your exhaust fan…so you get an air flow. If it’s tough keeping it warm enough…..you can get your base on by like 3-4:00 in the afternoon….and then apply the clear the next day. If you want. Just be sure to get it heated up good and feel the metal with you hand to make sure it’s somewhat warm. But if you want to do it all in one shot….just wait a couple hours after you are done with the base color….before applying 3 good wet coats of clear….15-20 minutes flash in between coats. I would use the fast reducer for your base …and your clear. Or fast hardner in the clear. Last important tip I will give you….after your last coat of clear is sprayed and the overspray has left the garage….leave the exhaust fan on for 1/2 hour…then feel somewhere to see if the clear coat is se up yet…like your fingah doesn’t stick to the clear. When the clear is set up ..and a fly won’t stick in it…shut the fan off….And get an oscillating fan in there …to move the air over all the painted parts…just on low speed is fine. THIS STEP IS VERY IMPORTANT….TO PREVENT SOLVENT POPPING.

    Alway wear rubber gloves when you are using a final wash on your primer….never touch the surfaces with a bare hand before any priming or painting. Use a 1.3 tip on your gun for clear and base…with an air guage and an in line filter. Air pressure should be around 30 . What gun are you using ?
