Tom-Those guys look like they'll be fledged and dive-bombing cats any day now lol (although I guess it's generally the Jay parents that go on strafing runs when their nest is approached)!

I picked my first 'Official Batch' of strawberries this afternoon. I've had enough coming on ripe to pick a few here and there for a snack but this is the first that could be shared. And Share I Did. There was right at one and a quarter lbs. I gifted them to my neighbor and his wife. He's a Navy Medic Vet and we get along real well.
Here they are:

This will be the last year for having strawberries on the ground level, my old knees just can't take it anymore. I'll take the old plants out and re-start with beds raised high enough to work with them standing up. :tu
Howee, Roy! Just pour some PET milk in the bowl and get a fork! :D
Gone this morning. My wife is sad........

Looking in my crystal ball I foresee a lawn mower in your near future.
Saturday was pretty busy! Had to pick up some soil and mulch (unfortunately they were out of what we bought 2 weeks ago). Then off to the local garden mart for a boat load of plants. I was promised I wouldn't have to do any gardening (i hate every aspect), but daylight and oncoming rain made the lady and I split most of the work.
I wear a mask for 1 simply reason, my coworkers can't even wash their hands after dropping a deuce. I trust your average person less. I fit 8 bags of mulch, 2 big bags of soil and a bunch of plants in my wagon, felt like a tetris champ!

All done! 3 pots have chives, rosemary and "super" chilis. Left of AC in ground is green & orange bell peppers and 2 varieties of tomato. Right of AC is some flowering stuff, I only know the front middle one as thats the only one I picked and its called Beardtongue. I laughed at it enough that the lady got sufficiently embarassed, so i had to get it.

Last fall I planted three Walla Walla Sweet Onions for seed to share with friends.
When the Italians first started planting the sweet onions here in the valley, they planted in the spring but they found that if they planted no later than the second week of September that the onions would be mature enough to survive the winters. We have had winters without snow cover and then pretty cold and the onions suffer but they do survive.
Anyway what I planted is going to seed. NOTE: Most WW Sweets are doubles in that they sprout two shoots instead of just one. The one in the middle started two plants but only one seed shoot.
