I couldn't find where anyone had started a new gardening thread. If there is one please let me know and I'll post there.
Last fall I planted some garlic and I believe that it was time to harvest as they fell over as do onions. Here they are hanging in my garage. I've got a fan on them for air circulation.

I planted a new Post to attach a section of Deer Fence, the snow took it out this winter,, yesterday was the hottest day of the year 69° lol
We might hit 70° by next Fri
We shall see what happens this season hehehe

I'm also playing with growing some 'Hatch Peppers'. I don't have any experience with them. I don't know if the plants will get bigger or what. With the weather as foul as it was they had actually started growing peppers inside! I got them planted but they didn't look very good, some leaves dropped off and the color isn't very green yet. We'll see---So far there are 5 peppers between the two plants----Anyone got any experience growing peppers??? :shrug:

Most WW Sweets are 'Doubles' so you usually get two stalks of seeds.
Well the last I looked it was 105 F here today. My tomato plants are going full throttle with the blooms. As can be seen here.

Here is the main garden patch. To the right, against the back fence, is three rows of tobacco. The back two rows are older, and are Connecticut Shade, Connecticut Broadleaf, and Criollo 98. Then there is a third row to the front, all Habano 2000, just planted out a couple weeks ago. More to the front is Bantam Yellow Sweet Corn, Emerald Spineless Okra, and right underfoot just sprouted up, Bok Choy. Elsewhere I have raised beds with tomatoes which aren't doing so well, jalapenos which gave me quite a few peppers, New Mexico chilis which have only given me two good peppers so far, more okra which has given us a few meals of okra, and a few other things that didn't work out so well. This winter I will haul in some more compost and expand the main garden another 10 feet, doubling it to 20 x 50. Half will be planted in tobacco, half in veggies. The soil on this property sucks so I bring in pickup truck loads of garden soil and shovel it right on top. I also built two walled raised beds but they drain so well that plants in them are always thirsty if we go a day or two without any rain.

Here is a closeup of the South end. You can see a couple of leaves going yellowish. Those are ripe and ready to pick. I picked about 3 lbs green weight of tobacco this morning, probably a pound dry weight, that will make good cigar filler. I hope to get a few decent binder and wrapper leaves from the next priming. Yes , but not hatch peppers or as I've always called them Anaheim chilis. I used to grow a lot of the extra hot chilis for hot sauce. Mine were all habaneros, scotch bonnets, savinas, datils, Thai and tobasco.Quote:

I find using fish as fertilizer worked best for my peppers. Well...whole garden, actually.
I had plants over 3 feet tall, peppers so big that the plants had to be tied to stakes, like tomatoes.

Okra, in one of the high raised beds. Okra is selling for $4.99 in the grocery. ROBBERY!!! We have ate about 5lbs of our own okra so far, and we got a really late start. They will keep bearing until December, though, unless we get an early freeze. They usually survive a light frost as long as it warms up during the day and the sun shines a bit. In Belize I often had okra live two years or longer. The trick is to pick every day. If you let them get woody, the plant will be like, "well, that's enough, I made plenty of seeds and my genetic material will survive, so AMF, lights out, sayonara, hasta la vista baby." As long as you are picking the pods young and tender, the plant will keep trying to make more so some seeds will survive and fall on the ground and grow. Nice thing about okra, it grows anywhere except maybe on a glacier. If you can't grow anything at all, you can probably still grow okra.

I figured out why my tomatoes made such a poor showing. Tobacco Mosaic disease. Probably the proximity to 100 or so tobacco plants wasn't the dealbreaker, but touching a tomato plant after tending tobacco apparently will sicken and eventually kill tomato plants. Seems to affect peppers somewhat, but not so much. I did get a lot of jalapenos and a few plants are getting their second wind, and I expect to get enough that I don't have to buy any until winter. I am getting pretty low, and the ones I got left have almost all turned red already. Obviously, Tobacco Mosaic doesn't affect okra in the least.
I am probably going to need a ladder to pick okra before it is all over. They got almost a two foot head start, the ones in the raised bed. The ones in the ground got ran over by the yard man in his lawnmower. THEY WERE FOUR FEET TALL! Yeah I should have remembered to tell him, "DO NOT MOW THE OKRA, I PLANTED THEM FOR A REASON", but I didn't. Silly me. But the mower blades just beat the leaves off them, skinned and scarred them and smashed them into the ground. Didn't kill them. They were like, "WTF was THAT all about?" and proceeded to keep on growing. When humans go extinct, the cockroach will survive. When the cockroach dies out, okra will inherit the earth. Some day they will become sentient, probably even put an okra on the moon.

Just moved our 6 Cherry Tomato plants, out into the yard, since we have some rain in the forecast, we have a bunch of green tomatoes still hoping they get time to ripen up in the next 20 days..
Overnight temps are getting ready to drop into the 40's the day after Fall begins hehehe I swear seasons change within a few days of what the calendar shows ..
I've got tomatoes coming on--BUT--I don't know if I'll have enough to come ripe to can. So far there's only 2--:shrug:
