Interesting frame. I knew a guy with a HRD in a Norton featherbed frame back then. It was considered an upgrade.

Oh yeah. The motor was a stressed member of the frame.
They tossed the motor in anything, Triumphs and Nortons. Even customs.
I once had an acquaintance who had lots of dough and who's days were numbered.
He bought anything vintage MC. Was showing me racks of Ceriani forks and Matchless cylinders. Had an Amal/Mikuni prototype carb.
Looked in the corner and he had a Black Shadow done up for the straight-line. Obviously a LONG time ago.
Shocks were down low, though. Like a Softail I would say. Pegs were on the rear axle. Biddness!
I just sat down on the floor and marveled. Then I crawled over to the timing side. Oh My!
Such a lovely thing.. All the patina and dust as well.
Still am happy to have experienced that. A great accomplishment.
HAR! I looked him up and he is a bit south, IMO. Nothing else he has done appealed to me.
Sure nailed that though..
I have been working on a '73 Corvette with an widened '82 front end and a similarly treated '94 rear end.
YUGE big block and set up for road racing back a few decades ago.
My buddy has exhausted himself trying to get it street legal and farmed-out the A/C job to me.
Big fun so far. I will get a few pics tomorrow in the WAYWO thread
Don't know if you gents have heard of the Egli Vincent. There is a bloke local who owns and rides one. That thing hauls @$$. Leaves the Harleys in the dust.
Oh damn. This IS the MC thread? Good!

Why were they called featherbed frames ? :roflmao
Well it's a good thing I got the bike out yesterday because it's pouring down rain today. :gaah:
So the tuner I picked up was the Vance & Hines Fuelpak FP3. It just plugs into the bike and then you use a smart phone to read it (you do have to download a program) I put on about 85 miles on yesterday with the Fuelpak attached with the bike and the cam and then flashed the settings to the bike.
It showed this:

It's pretty cool! I'd set it up with using V&H's pipes as mine weren't listed BUT I called and by God they had the pipes so they made a map for me using my pipes, the cam and then I downloaded it and took it for a little ride.

It's supposed to be nice but cool (50 degs F) so I might ride it down to Ski's tomorrow to mow his lawn.
Crazy what they come up with these days Roy, but what happens when you get to an area with dodgy reception??
 :roflmao
Speaking of motorcycles, our transport agency has decided in their finite wisdom to not allow any bike above 125 cc to be registered if it doesn't have abs from today. I rushed to get my street glide through in the last couple of days.
This has effectively wiped out thousands of bikes here and wasn't common knowledge. I let one bloke with at least 20 bikes in various states of repair know, he is spewing.
Bloody abs doesn't make you a good rider, thousands of miles does.
Just pullin ya leg mate, ha.
