My Girlfriend, SWMBO, Partner, etc.

I used another thread as a thinly veiled excuse to post a picture of my partner, Scarlett. I found some other very interesting shots I want to share. Here is Scarlett on stage at a big concert at the Count Basie Theater in Red Bank, New Jersey:

She was opening for Ray Charles. I was very lucky to have had the opportunity to capture this moment:

Scarlett arranged to have a very good drummer from Belgium named Dirk Dergent be here for this concert. We decided the next day to take some publicity shots that Dirk could use to show he had been on tour in the U.S. I drove us all out to Liberty State Park in New Jersey. We lugged the drum kit out into the middle of a field. The people at the park acted as though this was anormal, daily occurence:

We were initially shooting facing the other way with the Statue of Liberty in the background. After a roll of film, I convinced Dirk and Scar to turn the drum kit around and let me shot with the lower Manhattan skyline as a background. Scarlett then began acting a little wierd but I just went with it and caught this shot:

The date I shot these pictures was August 26, 2001. Two weeks later things looked alot different.( Take note of the kite in the pictures)

Love the first two pics. You captured some great emotion in #1, #2 needs no explaination - not many ppl can show off a pic with Ray! :bow

I'm very impressed, Icedog! Opening for Ray Charles would be a memory to cherish forever, I'd think. I'll have to check out her music.

Hey thanks for the research. Here is another Scarlett website: SLM Band Homepage

She is not doing much singing these days. She works full time, is taking three classes and is involved in a play that is supposed to open next month in Westport, CT. Oh yea, she also has put together a CD with a folk group and the CD is to be released in a week or so. It isn't easy to be a total slug around someone who works so hard but I manage.

That's one hot mama alright. Talented too if she was opening for Ray. Can I pick up her CD's anywhere?

Having seen the movie"RAY", I have to ask, where were his hands in that picture?:w";"
BTW: The kite in the park pic was pretty damn eerie!

Awesome photos Icedog! Those last two are quite eerie, even for a Brit. Tell Scarlett that she looked fab & I am sure she still does, you lucky chap.

Ice- cool pics! Being dead serious here- if she needs a bass player, let me know! I am in RI so not that far. I have played a ton of blues stuff (including playing for Sweet Georgia Brown at the 55 Bar in NYC). I've also played at the Stamford Summer Concert series opening for G.E. Smith (headed the Saturday Night Live Band for 10 years) among other blues-related gigs. My bachelor's degree is in Music Performance from Berklee. So if she needs a bassist... lol

P.S. I'll have to check with SWMBO before I post anything with her in it!

That is a most worrisome expression. A beautiful lass with a deadly playful snicker to her eye. Great photo, yes the model herein would make it difficult for a blind man to shoot a crappy picture. But as you may have surmised, I have an affinity for the black and white.

Same here, I shoot and develop my own black and white film as an aside to my photography hobby. This pic is a digital conversion though but Beth looks good in colour too :)
