I actually laughed my ass off with this one. It's pretty hilarious. In case you're asking yourself. The cartridge used is a .577 Tyrannosaur aka .577 T-rex. it's also called the T-Rex gun. Mostly used for hunting in Africa. It's supposed to take an elephant down in 1 shot.

That's got some recoil! I 'd imagine if you wanted to bring down an ellie, you'd aim somewhere near it's feet. That way it should hit it straight between the eyes! :D I don't condone the shooting of these creatures by the way. They're too majestic. You'd need someone standing behind to catch the rifle too!:eek:

No video of my screw-up but I am going to tell one on myself. About 40 years ago I was a young ironworker and had started making enough money to buy something. Marlin came out with a repro of the L.C. Smith 12 gauge side by side double. It was a beauty and a little over a week's pay, about $200.00 USD.

So with my bright shiny new shotgun a friend of mine and I went out to the boonies with a few handguns as well to "plink" bottles and cans. My friend was an experienced shot gunner and was using the double triggers to fire both barrels together.

I took the gun and figured I would try that. My pal put up a large coffee can on the canal bank. There was a backstop behind it of fill from when they dug out the canal so no danger of hitting anything down range.

I was aiming the two balls on the ribbed barrel aligning them intently. There is a thing in long gun shooting called length of pull. The stock felt short to me so unconsciously I lengthened the pull by moving the stock an inch or so from my shoulder and I pulled both triggers. :gaah:

The recoil of two 00 buck 12 gauge rounds slammed the butt into my shoulder and the gun came out of my hands and arced up and over me as I back pedaled from the force of the blow. I fell on my a$$ and the gun hit the rocky ground skinning up the bright blue and the stock.

I sat there dazed and realized that I couldn't lift my arm. My friend was looking at me like I had just landed in a spaceship from the moon. Took 45 minutes for me to lift my arm. The gun was not badly damaged, just skinned up.

The worst thing that was hurt was my pride. So I swore my pal to secrecy and this is the first time I have told anyone. May as well tell the world. I don't know if telling it is as funny as it must have been to see it but you would have had to have been there. :D

No fancy reflector, likely a big flat iron plate. It was a combination of perfect angle, competely perpendicular to the big iron/steel target he shot at, a big bullet that was likely still accelerating when it was coming back off the reflection of the target and luck.

You can see the ball hit the ground maybe five yards out in front of him. I bet he printed a 3D map of Iceland in his shorts that day. :D

I should have been more clear Max. I didn't mean that I didn't see the hilarious videos that you posted.

You should try a 600 Nitro, side by side double rifle. They do make 700 but never fired one. Bigest thing in my cabinet is a 338 Win Mag. I will put down anything in North America with one round, likes to blow up ground hogs. I almost got a 475H&H but for elk, the 338 had better range and was plenty punch with a 250 grain.
