    No such thing.....

Been out of production a long time, I think. I never saw one.
Single shots are not worth much these days.

Sure do love my H&R nickel receiver Deluxe Topper model in .410/full.

Don't know what to tell ya. They are not worth putting anything into unless sentimental.
20 GA with a 6 inch barrel would work. Blackbeard special!

I'm not a fan of this R51. The hesitation locking system (breech block) concerns me with this particular design. It's also a pain in this ass to disassemble and reassemble. If the slide stop pin isn't seated properly under the little spring, the weapon will become very unstable. I looked at one of those pistols but decided it wasn't for me. Yeah it is pretty cheap, but for this price went with the Taurus G2C.

I hope my disdain for this weapon doesn't affect your thoughts about it. I just couldn't reasonably buy one because of the design. Good Luck with your R51! I hope that it performs to your specifications and works well for you!

    See! You read the reviews!
I always get my disdain from personal experience. Not from reviews.

It's not too hard to disassemble/reassemble. Did not take long to learn that. Certainly any pistol has to be assembled properly?
I saw a review where a fellow ran 600 rounds of many types through a new one with 1 FTF and still would not recommend it.
    Because he read a review!

Anyhoo, I had great luck with my last one. Lifetime warranty.
A lot of this is the stigma of the first production's issues. They offered money back and I just kept mine. We had to have shot 400 or so rounds through that one without a hiccup.
Not going to leave my CZ in the truck. That's for certain!
THe R51 cost me 219 with 3 mags! THAT can be stashed in the truck..

I have the most maligned military rifle ever. A MAS 49/56 Century .308 conversion.
I performed the 5 mods necessary and it runs great.

I've long wanted another contender for the most maligned military rifle: the Ross. It has a reputation for kind of blowing up in one's face, but that only applied to one model and as long as you assemble the bolt correctly, you won't shoot yourself in the face with it.

Underdog champions of the world, unite!

It was in original condition, faded red, well-worn, but nice.
This was and still is my favorite combination; beautiful, original, and worn.

Those Ross rifles are pretty neat. You must have seen that 'Forgotten Weapons' Where Ian put it together wrong on purpose and yanked the string. Funny!

Sure did. Great video, but sad to see what happened to the rifle. But if I recall correctly, the rifle was pretty much toast to start with.

The story of the rifle's development and adoption is pretty bonkers, complete with an eccentric wacko (Ross himself) and an ego-maniacal wingnut of a politician (Sam Hughes). C&Rsenal did a great video on the rifle and its history. For anyone interested with an hour to kill:

Yup, those Ross rifles were very interesting. I had 3 of them, 2 different models of military 303 issue rifles and a 280 Ross Sporter. Still have a WWI Canadian service manual for one somewhere. All of them shot very well.

Tom - You know what they call underdogs? Statistics! I don't want to read about you in the papers....

No really, I do hope that thing runs smooth and effectively for you! You're one of the Good Guys!

I hear ya, John. TBH, I thought they had stopped making them. I bought the 1st gen one on a whim as I knew General Patton had a Model 51 for a CCW with the same Pederson block system. I understand those (1918-1926) were good and in .380.
Tale is they were too expensive to make and compete, so they dropped them.

Seems Remington worked on the bugs on these for a few years and reintroduced them.
The reviews from the buyers are much better than the youtube bunch. A lot of those guys are clowns, it seems.
I bought 2 weeks ago from Classic and they have gone up considerably since.
If it has issues, Remington will get it back.
Of course, I always hope I get a 'good one'. Maybe I will? Anyhoo, the FFL has it. Will pick it up and my carbine to-morrow.
Might go bust some caps this weekend. This Sahara dust storm crap is killing me!

Here is an interesting article on the whole R51 debacle.
