Since my 1991 323 Mazda went end up on me last June I've been driving my son's 1999 Toyota Tacoma. Gas guzzler from the get go. Got used to good mileage per gallon and feel I need a bank loan to fuel the Toyota. I will say that air conditioning and automatic drive is a very pleasant contrast despite the lousy mileage.

I've been looking at mid-size trucks and saving up. I'm leaning toward a diesel. The Chevy Colorado (and GMC) has a diesel option. I read the Tacoma has lost some sales to the Colorado and Toyota will be reversing their stance and offering a diesel Tacoma in 2018. The Ford Ranger is supposed to have a diesel option when it is reintroduced.
The Chevy Colorado with the 2.8 L turbo diesel is supposed to get 30 miles per gallon on the highway according to the Chevrolet website.
Gas mileage is why I chose the silverado over the Toyota. The cylinder deactivation makes a big difference!! Especially when you're driving 1500 a month!Quote:

Are the tanks the same size....don't think so. But it all comes down to miles per gallon....On a trip my 2015 GMC 2500 gets around 15 mpg...but I can plow 2 feet of snow with it and tow my 37 foot camper with it....and at 2.25 per gal...I ain't complaining.Quote:

nessmuck ya got it good. Gas here is now at 2.79/gal. I was still getting 25 to 28 mpg on the old Mazda when it went bye-bye. Don't know the mpg on the Toyota but I'm sure it isn;t good.
