@Leatherstockiings, Moby Trivia: He used to be with an old Hardcore/Punk band called Vatican Commandos, and did a few shows with Flipper as lead singer.
If you like old Joy Division covers, here's one of my favorites...Woven Hand covering "Heart and Soul"...

I'm loving Steam Powered Giraffe's new album The Vice Quadrant at the moment. One of the best bands I've heard in a long time!
Tonight I've been getting the Led out while refinishing the workshop. Good working tunes...

Right now at the moment I am listening to Cat Stevens/Don't Be Shy
Symphony
I do not listen to such music too often but this time is an exception. I'm learning by aging.
Last may our city orchestra did something not done here before. The orchestra was split up between 7 hills of the city and still they could play simultaneouysly. it's amazing what they can do with the modern technology.
The result was a huge success. We were listening to the part playing in Kerttulinmaki (Gertrud's Hill), that is also medieval hanging place. The song Finlandia is very important here and many take it very sentimental.
Here it is. 12 mins. The conductor Segerstam looks like Santa gone mad ;)

I cannot believe I missed this. I personally love the Finlandia and most of Sibelius's symphonic works, although I have not really sunk my teeth into them as much as I would have liked to. In Finland, it seems most of the general population is Sibelius-tired, after having been bombarded with his name for years and years. Sadly, most people have never given him much of a listen (apart from the Finlandia).
So far he is definitely among my favourite symphony composers, together with Bruckner, Dvořák, Tchaikovsky and of course Beethoven. Not too shabby a company I would say.
With people from my generation and after (1985+), if I mention listen to symphonic ("classical") music quite a bit, the usual response is along the lines of "Why listen to some boring, classical crap when there is so much good rock music out there?" Which I then throw back at them in reverse "Why listen to some crappy rock music when there is so much awesome classical music out there?", at which they then role their eyes and I start to go on a tirade why I think Pink Floyd is pretentious, the Beatles sucked and Led Zeppelin is totally overrated :p
Obviously, I do not believe in De gustibus non est disputandum. Not in the slightest. I love arguing a very subjective point of view (in good spirits); it makes for very passionate discussion and is a great way to really get to know people and what makes them tick.
But yes. Sibelius. Kiitos Tomi, pistin sen heti soimaan :)
Sailor, thanks a great deal for this rendition of Finlandia. Sebelius is one of my most favorite composers. Love listening to his symphonies during a strong winter storm. He revitalizes me.
