Macyn Taylor playing Leo Kottke's "The Fisherman" on a Petros guitar. The last time I saw Leo Kottke play he told a short story (as he often does) about this song. He said it was written for his grandmother who he could remember going fishing with when he was a child. He said she was the angriest fisherman/woman he'd ever seen in his life, cussing and swearing, yelling at the fish.

Back in the late '70's when CB radio was all the craze I was at an out of town get together/camp out and the sponsering group had a live band of some fairly young kids and they were pretty much playing 'elevator music' and no one was dancing.
I went up to them and asked if they knew any other kind of music and they said that they were used to playing in cocktail lounges but did know other music. So I asked if they knew 'Wipeout' and they 'kind of knew it' but the drummer said 'OH YEA! I know that one. So that was the next song and to say it was a huge success would have been an understatement. I think the next song was Louie Louie.
Anyway for those days gone by here's a couple of versions of Wipeout/the studio record and fairly recently.
I hope all will enjoy.

My father, brother and I went to the Dead & Company in Alpine Valley. It was the first time my brother and I saw the Dead in concert and it was my father's 47th anniversary to his first Dead show. I may not like John Mayer's(sp?) music, but he plays one mean guitar.
Happy Birthday today to Linda Ronstadt.
I've been a lifelong fan. She had everything a singer needs ... in spades! From the early days...

Since it's Linda's birthday today, here's her helping Chuck Berry Celebrate his 60th Birthday.

My "like" is not strong enough for that tune, cudarunner! Good old fashioned R&R, with Keith Richards too!
Great stuff!!!
Speaking of Rock and Roll Music, here's one from the same gig. Chuck with the late Etta James.
Keith Richards organized the event and was the musical director.
