Horace Silver - Song for my Father

If you gentlemen have never listened to this classic Jazz album, the title cut "Song for my Father" will have a VERY familiar beginning to you. Think Steely Dan "Ricky Don't Loose That Number". Almost note for note. Horace did this album in the 60s, so he owns the melody.

Been listening to CJRT Toronto tonight, "The Big Band Jazz Show" with Glen Woodcock.
JAZZ.FM91 - Jazz and the Arts
His latest kick is to play "Airchecks" as they call them in Canada, or "Remotes" as we call them in the US. This is where you'd broadcast a live big band Jazz concert from the dancehall. Very popular in the 40s and early 50s. Luckily, so many of these were recorded so we can still enjoy them.
