Just doing some stuff around the house on another rainy Saturday, and my YouTube auto-play popped up this gem. When I was a kid growing up in the suburbs, you were practically issued this album. I'd forgotten what a beast Frampton was on that over-driven Les Paul-jeez Louise!

And Cangooner-I listened to that live version of "The River". I had heard it many years ago; it still has that same mixture of tenderness, raw power and an aching honesty that all his great ballads do-and love the long spoken intro.
Here's another achingly beautiful ballad I discovered along with many others on Northern Exposure:

And I love this quirky bunch:

The cover of Sound of Silence by Disturbed.

This came on while listening to my Pandora Mix. I have the 12 minute live version that was recorded by Benny Goodman and his band in 1938.
My mom loved big band/swing music. Hell she knew how to 'Jitterbug'. She'd come to visit and I'd put on my collection of swing on and it would play all day. Watching her bop around was priceless.
So for mom, I present Sing, Sing, Sing;

And while Buddy didn't play with Goodman here's one just for a little fun--

Los Gatos, "Eres un hada al fin."

Some days just call for loud Pogues. From my shortlist of bands I really regret never having seen live, and dedicated to the memory of Shane's teeth... :)

Gary Clark, Jr. This Land
Wikipedia:
Texas guitarist Gary Clark, Jr. has been compared to guitar icons like Jimi Hendrix and Stevie Ray Vaughan, and his playing is a powerful and inspired mix of blues, contemporary soul, and hip-hop, and when he's on a roll, he sounds like nothing so much as a natural hybrid of both the past and the future of the blues.

Inspiration for this heater title track: Gary Clark Jr. is confronting racism with ‘This Land’
