Dakota, our new ball python.

Well we did it. Gerrit got me a 2 year old female ball python for my birthday she is a sweet heart. The girl we got her from did not want to sell her, but she had to, no pets were allowed were she was living. She said we seemed to be "good people" she had turned down several people who looked at her and put a high price on her so only the truly interested would want to see her. She did not want some soccer mom with a rowdy son getting and mistreating her. I am so very excited. I was worried that when we finally found one and got her that I would be scared but I am not I am more nervous about hurting her then anything else. She is used to being handled a lot she was taken to the local farmers market/petting zoo several times.
I posted about a potential ball a while ago and would like to thank every one who helped with information and contacts. Any comments or care suggestions would be greatly appreciated.

Or any other pets you may have.:) I not one for having a snake as a pet or birds for that matter, but to each their own. Enjoy the new addition to the family.

Nice BP, Nanna. I had one over 20 years ago, but got rid of it before it got that big. I also had a really beautiful red-tailed boa. Be careful-those milky eyes mean she is close to shedding. They tend to get irritable before shedding, so I wouldn't surprise her with a hand in front of her face.

I used to enjoy watching them eat their weekly mouse.

Actually those were left from her last shedding, which makes it worse because she is about to shed again. We need to get her in the bath tonight. She is avoiding her water bowl and just hiding in her cubby. If it doesn't go away tonight I may have to get her to a vet.

Keep the cage clean and warm. My friend had a ball python, and she got pretty crabby around shedding time. I had the red tail boa.

The pre-shedding milky is normal, she doesn't need a vet for that. Once she sheds she'll be like brand new!
