I'm a native Memphian living in central Alabama. I'm not sure what they do to the BBQ down here, but I'm convinced they chop it then boil it in water until it's mush. To make matters worse they serve it with sauce that's about 2% tomato/98%vinegar and of all the odd things put a hamburger dill slice on top! Blasphemy, I tell you, blasphemy! SWMBO and I absolutely refuse to eat the stuff.
I don't pay to have Memphis BBQ shipped here; I just hop in the car and drive the 7 hours to Memphis to get the real thing. You haven't lived until you eat ribs from Corky's, a BBQ sandwich from Leonard's, and a pulled plate from Germantown Commissary.
