Got Mead?

I could go for some sparkling Mead...

There's a meadery, I think it's Meadery of the Rockies, near where I live. Now I'm inspired to go check it out. I enjoyed mead in Sweden in 1985, the old traditional stuff. Good luck with your brew!

I have made various fruist based meads before with tropical fruits, the are properly refered to as melomels, and meads are pure honey based. Mine took a long time to mellow out, but they are wonderful. Have fun.
Incidently, the term Honeymoon historically came from the local mead maker giving mead to the newlyweds on the full moon, thought to have increased fertility.!!!

Now,I've had mead and really liked it,but I've never been drunk on the stuff.I have heard it's a bad hangover,is this true??

Had much the same experience last year after opening a bottle a friend had made. The mead wasn't the best, but the fizzy really made it interesting.

My GF and I just moved into a new house with abasement so I can start brewing again and since she is celiac the first batch we do will be a force carbonated fizzy mead. I do like the blood orange idea and might have to play around there. Thanks for the inspiration.

Any wine hangover is bad... I heard that it has to do with impurities and sweetness...

Just chase each glass of wine with one glass of water... You'll drink less... :rofl2:

Awesome idea! I should be finishing up my first batch of home brew beer, this will be a nice second brew attempt. Finally, an attempt at gin, then all will be right with the world. Thanks for the inspiration!

you may wish that you used glass insted of the jugs also you can buy airlocks for 2 to 3 dollars I have 21 hives and made 35 gals last year

The first batch of any homebrew is a slippery slope, and it most likely will lead to many more (hopefully).

I homebrew a lot of since a poster above mentioned using glass heres an easy way to track some down. Go to a recycling center and track down a used Carlos Rossi 4L wine jug that somebody has recycled. They are usually plentiful since the stuff is so cheap...or if you like wine you could put down 4L of it and then re-use the jug. They work great!
