Antique Store = Vintage Bottle Source!

Hey Guys,

I want to store my new after shaves in vintage bottles with cork stoppers since my new "collection" is forced to live on top of my medicine cabinet. The classic shave stuff just doesn't look right with a plastic bottle of Aqua Velva and Clubman right beside it! So I thought I would suggest a good source for vintage bottles; your local antique shop(s). I know that is super-obvious, but I was just in a store in my hometown that had TONS of old cork bottles! I had no idea they would have so many to choose from and that the price would vary so much! I did manage to find several smaller bottles that will hold my special new scents for $2-3 each, so that's not too bad. There were also bottles in the $75-100 range, so just like anything else, you can spend as much as you want!

Great idea. Seems like several have found good/cool ideas for storing the soaps, but I hadn't thought of the old cork/bottles for my pre-shave oils and what not. I've been "hiding" my olive oil and baby-oil under the sink, because just as you mentioned, they look out-of-place and downright tacky alongside everything else in the bathroom.

Now, to stop by some antiques!!


Brings up a good question though, whats the best way to clean out the old small glass jars? I've tried soaking in water, and it never does any good.

For cleaning the glass bottles, I've used a solution of water and Borax soap to great sucess. It also helps if you have or can find a small nylon brush made specifically for cleaning in small spaces. Most home improvement stores have these brushes, usually in the plumbing section.

Just another source and while you're at it you can go nuts on some of my favorite aftershave.
