There are several links in there about serving it
It was made legal in the US awhile back after the science proved that "Thejune" was not dangerous
Sorry for resurrecting this old thread, but I wanted to share my experience. I had seen a documentary on absinthe on Netflix, and became interested. Yesterday, I purchased a bottle of Mata Hari Absinthe Bohemian at a local liquor shop, and had a couple of traditional (Absinthe+ice water+sugar) glasses. Very cooling in the summer heat, and less of the black licorice flavor than I expected.
I'm glad you did resurrect this thread. Reminded me that I've not had a glass in some time. Now enjoying some Swiss La Clandestine traditional (no sugar) in a Pontarlier absinthe glass.
Cheers!
The first time I seen it my former roommates had taken to using it for shots because of the high proof. So I showed them the documentary on netflix and began making it for them the traditional way. They both enjoy it much more now. I'm personally not a big fan, as I'm not a fan of black liquorice but am willing to try some different brands.
Kubler 53 is a good 'Swiss blue' to try. It's not too fussy a drink to mix with water. It doesn't have sugar added already, and it's not too bitter or too sweet.
Definitely a Summer Cooler for us, we just had a couple this past week...
We enjoy it enogh that I am thinking it is time for an Absinthe' Fountain
