My Dad used to work in the Kokanee brewery in Creston. :)
A few of the things I have missed while being away from home: the Canadian Shield, quality time in a canoe and/or tent, snow, and lots and lots of open space.

Yer all doin great on this one guys. I must say that even with the rocky mountains within my view...for me it just doesn't compare to the miles of treeline that I miss from Michigan. When I go up to the 20th floor roof garden where I work where it has a 180 view...I'm not looking west at the mountains. I'm looking North or East trying to get my eyes to give me an extra inch of sight beyond the horizon. I get the thousand mile stare real bad then. Keep it up fellas..this is good stuff.
Nightblade, do you need a pasty and a can of Black Label in which to drown your sorrows? How about some Vernor's?
I wonder just how many people on this thread realize how much yer tuggin at might heart with that ha ha . Love the reference to The Sadlot!
Don't care for pastys myself. They're edible w/some Louisiana Hot Sauce, though. I'll trade you one for some pickled buffalo tongue -- haven't had that in years!
Oooohhhhh Rock n Rye yes please ! If yer familair with Long lake Penninsula, My teenage years were spent there right on the Narrows , south outer drive. My Mom sold the house to some lawer from Illinois. He totally remodeled the house which was a log style home. Now it's a log style mansion....lost all it's charm if you ask me. We had wild huckleberries growing out front and I still haven't forgotten the 30 plus bags of leaves I had to rake up every fall (Cringe).Oh yeah and the hugemangouse icky wolf spiders (bleeeaaahhhh !!!!)
Used to date une femme who had a place on CR 675 Dunne's Farm Road. Ring a bell to you? Glen Lake.
Just to show you how much I've acclimated to MI, I know how to get around those cement trucks on M-72 outside Kalkaska!
I will be honest...I know about Glen Lake but not much else 1)didn't get there much 2) it has been over 20 years 3) I didn't drive back then and was pretty territorial...but I guess I do remember that Glen Lake was our High school rival GO TROJANS !!!!!! WOOOOOO ! And I'm not all that much of a foot ball guy....BUT GO TROJANS ANYWAY !!!!!!! Do you remember Green hill Grocery ? The last bastion of gas and groceries till you hit the North end of Long Lake. Sadley the store is now gone like my memories . My best memories were of Grayling which was technically my birth hometown. Had a lot of nice woodsy memories there stayin at my Grandmothers when I was an wee sprout and playin soldier in the woods.
