Say, Paul! That blade looks GREAT! (and familiar!). Several questions: So do you think extended curing times result in a harder coat? How much time would it take to achive maximum hardness of the coating before the spine could be taped and a bevel set? Do you think a DMT would be required to break thru the coating at first or would a 1000 hone do the trick? As was suggested, would the spine effect a strop or vise-versa? and Finally.....How's about some aluminum-coated sand digi-cam scales for that! :D
Inquiring minds need to know! Looks great! :chapeau Tom
3-4 weeks on the curing time. I think 1000 would be a good starting point to hone but I will do a two layer tape at first to start the bevel set more to protect the spine from wear just in case. Once it gets close I will do one layer tape.
It just so happens that a desert digi-cam scales are in the works as I type this. You must be reading my mind!!!
Paul.
Should make for an awesome razor! :beer1:
Some quick shots of the M9 I just finished.
Looks super! Makes me want to hit all the gun shops and ask where the "uglies" are! :D
Couple of better pics for ya.

Very nice and clean looking. The biggest mistake I see many who are messing around with coating a weapon is that they get too "busy" for me. I like simple and classic stuff like that M92 you have done in one or two colors. The detail in highlighting the branding is a nice touch as well.
Thanks
I agree. I like simple and clean with attention to detail. It blends well still and has a very "clean" look. The stamping Is one of my OCD things that adds to pride of ownership.
The client originally wanted the barrel to be OD Green also but after taking it apart I contacted him and asked him to trust me and if he didn't like the coyote tan I would redo it free. LOL He ended up loving it!!! Also wanted the trigger tan but I did it od green for contrast.

Savage Mark II in Burnt Bronze with scope and rings
Marlin 336 that had been in a house fire. Wish I had taken before and after's. The owner wanted to keep the stock the same with the burn marks as he thought it gave it character.

This really turned out cool. Not my kind of colors but the clients wife sure does
I love the stuff you have been working on and look forward to seeing and hearing more about how it turns out. What was the end result with the razor, where you able to set a bevel ok and hone it up??? Was it difficult to learn to coat and do the detail work on the printed parts of guns, razors, ect?? Cant wait to see some more :)
Lol. Thanks. The razors has two blades done. And one set of scales only I haven't had the time to take one set of scales to Tom nor have I had the time to put the second blade into the bone scales for it. It will come soon. SWMBO is going for a work trip later in the month so I'm going to have a honing and pinning marathon week.
Still want to see a blade in Dazzle camouflage.

I'm lovin' me the guns. I'd love to see a digital toothy pattern on the razor's edge. Make it look like chipping or more ;)
