On the Gentlman's Emhporium newsletter site that I subscribe to they were talking of the possibility of 'patination' of brown boots and shoes as opposed to black.
These were on special in the end at 110 bucks. Just a TAD too big, but I put a few balls of cotton wool in the toes and boots slightly too big are better than slightly too small. Now, though, I'm fretting about what size to buy for the better quality boots I'm also looking at getting. The LAST pair of boots I got were from Portugal and THEY were a 42 and THESE are also from Portugal and a size 42 but slightly larger...
The next pair will be these (link below), a bit cheaper than the Alfred Sargant boots and just as nice I think. I'll keep those ones in the tan (i.e. I won't use the darker polish) as I intend to wear those with grey slacks. The new ones pictured I intend to wear with jeans and a French cuff shirt for work, and maybe jeans and a casual shirt on weekends...
I'm quite happy with them...
