Very impressive grinder! enclosed digital drive with its own fan, lovejoy coupler, you built that one to last! great job!
-
Are you kidding? Building your own machines - now that's impressive.
-
-
WOW!!
Time to hog some metal!!!!
Nicely done!!!!
-
Super nice, clean set up. Well done - it should give you years of excellent service. One question - can't tell from the photos - is your idler pulley crowned?
-
That is an impressive looking grinder for sure.
-
That is one good looking grinder. I admire your planning and knowledge of machine building.

Wow guys! Thank you for all the comments, kind words, and support. Thanks for looking!
Skipnord, yes the idler is crowned slightly. When I made the idler I think that I cut about 1 or 1-1/2 degrees taper. Just an eyeball thing you know. I have made idlers for some large machines before and it didn't take long to find out less is better on the taper!!
Modine, any time you want to drop by you are more than welcome to give it a test drive!!
Pixel, yes the pellet stoves are a dream. Funny how you can burn a ton of wood pellets and have maybe a 5 gallon bucket of ash to dump from all those pellets!
Thanks guys.
Be well!!

Well all pretty much finished now. While I was working so hard on getting the platen wrapped up, Muskieman rolls in and decided to make a razor! Go figure!! I did also make a couple smaller drive wheels too! They are pictured on the bottom belt!

The design of that platen is really good and the multiple sized drive wheels gives you a much wider range of speed control.
Very nicely done, :tu

Without words (обалдеть): :bow
-
That's incredibly genius!!!
-
Now you can peel some steel!!!!!!
-
Indeed Engine 46 it will for sure. Probably a lot faster than you want it to sometimes!
Thanks all for posting your kind words and comments on this thread!!

Very nice piece of work. I've built some things like that (not quite as complex, though) years ago. I have no time for such things these days :(
Looking to retire in about 4 yrs - just maybe then. I'll keep hopin' anyway.

You're very welcome. Things like that catch my eye. I love machines!!!! I have just a metal cutting lathe at my moms house I want here bad. My only wheels is my Harley right now. I need to get a friend of mine to go with me over there & get it. I need it. I love that grinder, it is indeed bad ass!!!!
Respectfully,
Steve
