I never tried it but it should be able to. We also work with ceramics and stuff, those have higher fusing points than steel. for instance Zirconium dioxide (ZrO2) has a melting point of 2700c I believe. But we don't use that ourselves.

Thanks for the info, I did not realize there were ovens that got that hot. Mine tops out at about 1200c.
