I would concentrate on the two sides of the wheel, maybe a half inch in from either side. I would put the pressure behind where I want to grind, the spine-middle-ish. The tricky part is not canting the the blade one way or the other, it is easy to gouge the blade with corner of the wheel.
The way that I have ruined a lots of blades is by putting pressure on the portion of the blade that is not supported by the wheel and gouging the blade. The two inch dip is my nemesis.
