Bruno, thanks for the video, that looks like a good method of finish grinding, and I will give it a couple tries on my next set, or probably on a couple that didn't turn out the way I wanted to :}
blues, that stinks. but somehow comforting to hear that an experienced razor maker does that.
I started a batch of 4 out of w1 {someone gave me a 24" chunk of 1" square of it}, and so far 2 out of the 4 are trash, one I ground too thin and broke through the edge, and one I ground too thin and the edge is all wrinkly. the nice part is that I got a heat treat worked up for w1 with this batch as I used the screw-ups to dial in the tempering temp. and also found that I like to flat grind the blades to a burr, then switch to the wheel to hog out the sides. and more practice is always more better :}
Yeah, I got the wrinkly problem. I'm going to see if I can make a smaller razor out of this one because I've got a LOT of time into it. Handmade Damascus/Sam Mai construction.

sweet!! its always nice to be able to save one from the scrap bucket! I had a similar save yesterday, the one I was working on for this thread I had a welding flaw that ended up in the edge, so I set it aside and started working on some others. came back to it and thought, well lets just see if it will grind out, had to take about .030" off the edge, and was back to good clean steel! I have a bit more grinding to do, and then will have a handle day and finish it out.
