Logo on Etched Damascus and Kiwi Inspired Razor
Hi Team,
I've made my first razor from scratch and I wanted to try to reflect a bit of New Zealand culture in it. I moved here from UK around 4 years ago and its now my home.
Not sure if I've achieved it but my vision was to base the razor on the flightless 'Kiwi' bird as New Zealanders are often referred to as 'Kiwis'
So, the blade is supposed to look like a Kiwi's Bill at the tail end with the long tang, when viewed spine down. I tried to make the Scales a little bit Kiwi shaped without compromising the look and utility and I used native RewaRewa hardwood to resemble the Kiwi's feathers. It's a really beautiful wood.
Anyway, here's a pic.
Also, I was going to try a Damascus next and was wondering how I could etch 'ARC' into the blade - similar to the 'Kiwi' razor (I have a Gelandangan Etcher) whilst still showing the pattern of the Damascus steel after etching?
I think I also need to etch a bit deeper too?
Any thoughts, advice appreciated.
Best wishes
Dave
