Nice work. Double sided tape is good. I have had good luck with low temp hot glue. It holds well, comes loose easily and doesn't leave a residue. Just an idea to consider.

I have been shaving with the razor at the top of this thread the past week and (not to trumpet my own horn) it's been absolutely fabulous. I have been a long time user of very hollow ground razors and I could always get nice close shaves but that perfect shave, where you can go against the grain and then splash on the alcohol and feel nothing, well I very rarely if ever had that. Since shaving with this homemade however I have had just the most excellent shaves imaginable and today I had what I would consider a shave damn close to perfect. The hairs just wiped away silently, I went one pass against the grain on my neck and had no irritation, no weepers (I always get a few weepers with a hollow shaving this way). When I splashed on the aftershave there was nothing, just the gentle floral scent (D.R. Harris Pink) wafting upwards into my nostrils. How much of it is the wedge grind, how much the heat treat, the steel, just damn good luck? I can't really say but I sure as anything experienced a shave on another level today.

That's great. Glad it's worked out well for you. It's great when everything comes together like that. I'm excited for you.

It was kind of funny, when I honed the razor after putting it in the scales I went to the strop and the relative lack of audio feedback (compared to a full/extra full hollow) took me aback. I was wondering if I had messed up making the blade in some way (heat treat) but then I remembered the difference in grind and when I went to shave all was well. The only heavy grind razor I have used in any regular fashion has been a kamisori I've been trying to get to grips with but it has been a while since I used it so I couldn't remember that difference in feedback. I am appreciating the very quite shaves however, no more buttering toast noise.

See, I like that sound. I have a Henry Sears Queen 7/8 bellied full hollow ground and it sings like a songbird on the hones and if you ring it with the thumb nail. It actually "plinks" the hairs when it cuts them which personally like. To each his own.
