WIPs
I took some designs I liked and made them my own

The one that is cut is almost done grinding. It's far from perfect, but I learned a lot from it. It is cpm154. I have enough of that for 3 more. it being expensive, I decided my next 3 will be from 1095. I also have some A2 and n690 (which is similar to vg10 as I understand it) on their way.

The other three are inspired by
TI crown wing
Brian's (milemarker60, Arazorstale) W&B copy
and a folding kami I saw in the japanese straights thread.
I'm looking forward to applying what I learned on the first one to these, getting them ht'd by peters, and making some more in other steels once I know how the ht affects them.
As always, criticisms welcome
i only ground my first blade today on my new 8" grinder. It was tricky figuring out how to keep the curve centered, but I think I have it down now for next time. If people have tips or experiences to share, I'm all ears

Only thing I would add is don't forget about the little things. Like hows it going to feel when I'm stropping the razor.
My guess is the high-set tails may cause a problem with gripping the razor went you strop it.

You think so? If it were a shorter tail I would agree, but i thought I left the tang long enough that the high tail wouldn't be a problem. I'll play around with some and imagine the shapes like these. You may be right

I went too far on the first one. The sides were uneven, and when trying to even it out, I kept bending the edge, and eventually ruined it. Not by much, but it won't ht well and it isnt quite even. I'm working on a 1095 one now. Not nearly as well annealed, so it is much slower to work. This seems to be good, however, as I am able to keep the grind more evenin this one. I learned alot from my first failure

You guys are nuts......in a good way. I cannot imagine making a blade from scratch. Cool :tu
