As someone new to RAD, I was wondering. How does everyone store their razors? I have one that has a box, but three others that are loose. I know to clean and dry them after use, light coat of oil etc. But where do you keep the razors? Do you have a rack or something?

I recommend a dry place. I started out storing them in my bathroom cabinet. However, I kept noticing small rust spots popping up even though I oiled the razor after each use. I never get the scales wet and I pass tissue through the scales after each use as well. I determined the rust was comming from the high humidity in the bathroom. Each time someone takes a shower, it gets steamy in there. Not the best location for a razor if you want to keep it looking good. I now keep my razors in a cigar box in my closet outside the bathroom. No more rust blooms.
I have wood storage cases of various kinds for all my razors. I use sterol for short term storage and AJ Russell no rust for long term.
Quite a few folks on here have used old cigar boxes. You can get them fairly cheaply at your local tobacco shop, or eBay.
You know, I never though of that. Cigar boxes! I must have half a dozen. Thanks....

In proximity to children they live in a foam lined box with cutouts, which is also a convenient travel case, at work I have bent wire holders for them so they are in the air, in this situation they are on a shelf in my room.
I use a rectangular air and water tight plastic food storage container with a rubber sealed lid. I also put in several dissecant pouches to help absorb any moisture. The box is slightly longer than my longest razor, it holds all my 14 razors and is easily held in one hand. Since the box is watertight, I store the box in the bathroom. I also sometimes take my box of razors to the kitchen where I'll use my SRD modular paddle strop to do some leisurely stropping of one or more razors so that each razor is ready to use. After each use, I carefully dry the blade and inside the scales. I don't oil the blade after use because each razor is placed in a silicon treated cloth razor sleeve then placed inside my box. I haven't had any rust on the blades.
Yes Cigar Boxes! Great idea man, I was at the swapmeet here in mexico the other day and a guy was sellin 3 boxes for 80 cents? dang it, should of bought more.

I had a spare yard of Ultra-Suede fabric so I trimmed it and sewed up a 6-compartment roll up pouch with fold-over top flap; each compartment holds two razors. The razor-de-jour is on the bathroom counter. All the rest are clean and dry, rolled up in the pouch and sitting on a shelf in the steam-free bedroom closet.
Having acquired an old-old Singer portable I decided to learn, late in life, how to use a sewing machine. It's a useful skill. The razor pouch was one of my first projects. Last week I ripped my overcoat lining and a briefcase shoulder strap while traveling - two more learning opportunities. :D
I store my regular rotation in my bathroom draw in sleeves made from silicon impregnated gun sock
A hand gun sock cut in half makes 2 lots of 3 razor sleeves the one used each day is left in a stand until replaced with the next

The single sleeve has my inherited razor in it, until I get it restored.
Have had no moisture issues yet in 3 months since I made them

Just put them on a shelf,they seem happy.
I clean and dry them off, then they go in a leather pouch and in my sock drawer. The only razors I oil are the ones that are being stored for more than 2 weeks at a time. If they are in my rotation, They get used frequently and never have had a problem with rust.
I don't have a cigar box, because I like to buy a few cigars at a time and throw them in my humidor. I don't always feel like smoking the same cigar over and over.
If I am to store for any length of time I dry with tissue then I oil and wrap in wax paper the store in a zip lock bag. the wax paper is the same you use in the kitchen.
I found a jewelry box in a second-hand store that kinda looks like a pirates chest. I keep both my straights and my de in it, I keep it in the bedroom.
My china closet is the perfect location to safely display and store razors.

Who needs china anyway. Thats what paper plates are for right. :shrug:
I picked up a nice looking Fountain pen display case on fleabay. Looks good, displays them nicely. If/until RAD goes completely out of control that I will keep this mode of storage. They make fountain pen cases up to 36 or so slots...
has anyone thought about storing in your gunsafe , I know I have a dehumidifier in there and its safe from grandkids hands I haven't gotten home yet from new mexico to try my new dovo, but that is where I was planning on keeping my blades since I will be gone a couple months at a time ,,, what do you guys think?
Sure I have few there that are longer term projects. Not very convenient for access but then I don't have to worry about anyone else in my house!

I've put a dehydrant bag on the bottom of this box.
I learned a long while back due to cell rot not to keep all my razors in a confined space together especially if it's a newly purchased vintage razor.

I got for like 15$ in ebay! It holds like 24 razors since the shown knives are shorter!

One tip I was given about them, store them tang / pivot down in the sock, as that where the most concern over moisture is.
Currently, I'm on the hunt for a bunch more...the one store that has them is out of stock.

I made the shelves.
I dry my razor completely, 20 strokes on leather, leave it out on top of the humidor over night, on my desk in the office, not in the bathroom.
The next day it goes in the box, no oil.
I have had razors in there 3 years or so, no issues. Recently added some bags of silica gel dry packs.

Just got back from some errands, where I dropped into the local cigar store, asked him if he had some old wooden cigar boxes he wanted to get rid of, he pointed to a corner and said, "Please, take all the darn things!".
So I picked out three nice wooden one's with a nice clasp, and when I pick up a few more silicone socks, they will look and store great in the boxes. Also picked up a 2 40 gram reusable silicone anti-moisture packets.
The space is starting to evolve...
