Thought this might be some fun.
It is a rare opportunity for me to get to use my own razors with all the honing I do every day, so this coming year I am making a resolution to get out some of my favorite personal shavers and use them.
What are you guys going to do?

Well, since Santa was nice enough to get me a set of Naniwas for Christmas, I think I will start honing my own razors this year.
Looking to learn how to set bevels and start learning the basics of honing. I am also trying hard to get a meetup started here in the Chicago area. I want to master my razor collection, and if not wanting to use a razor, being able to share my investments with others. I have one gent near Chicago who has contacted me, and I will help him get started in the art of straights. I am far from a master, but know just enough to be dangerous. I am hoping to meet up with Lynn when he comes to Chicago. I got three new brushes for Christmas and I will be breaking them in as quickly as possible, so that I can try them all. I have a Semogue 1305, a Vie-long 12705 horse hair, and a Omega Professional Boar Hair Shaving Brush. I am very impressed with the Vie-Long so far. Taking a long time to defunk the smell, but i build lather with it everyday in a large plastic bowl while I watch tv. I look to make great friends and acquaintances from the forums. The SRD Logo razor from Mastro Livi, a Charlie Lewis, a Bob Allman, a Robert Williams, a Joe Chandler an old vintage Bismarck, a Sta Sharp, Wonderedge, a vintage Henckels carbon, an old W&B choppah, vintage Boker and Genco and a bunch of others. +1 No more scars sounds like a good personal goal to me. :)
My goal is to perfect my collection (I want no more than 10 great razors), and to be able to shave completely without cutting myself. I'm still new to it all, but am already hooked :)
Spend less money on shaving stuff.....Probably break that resolution by the 2nd.
Get a stone to help maintain my razor an learn how to use it. Maybe invest in some shaving soap and a good brush. Try and do it as cheaply as possible. :)
What kettlebell said. I do need a loupe, darn it, I'm already spending money!
Perfect my honing and start making customs. I have big plans for 2014 but those are my 2 resolutions. Except for 2 Satinedges and any rare ducks I see flying around my RAD is under control. So I need to focus on other goals related to straight razors. I like hobbies that pay for themselves :<0) Of course giving back is a big part of who I am so I will always be looking for ways to do that.
Not to cut myself while shaving...........ever again. Stay away from the shave soap threads (no more SAD)
I'm going to have Bruno block my access to the classified section, so I can get off my Ramen noodle diet. :(
I bought some repinning and light restoration supplies (g-10, recon stone, files, high-grit paper, etc etc...) and my resolution is to try my hand at it, including a first rescale. Hope to get into it next week. Happy New Year gents :)
I wanna go to more meetups abroad in 2014.
It is one of my favorite things to do, all the ones I have attended, or arranged locally, have been real fun times.
Less pressure in 2014.
I'd like to say I'll buy myself a Mastro Livi but I don't think I can; definitely not before the latter half of the year, anyway.
To shave more with less.
I'm going to have to say continue to improve my shaving and stropping technique, and get a good handle on my coticule. I'm in no rush in regards to any aspect, just want to take my time and enjoy every experience the path has to offer....all in good time!
I'm a relatively new straight shaver of about 18 months but have acquired 15 razors-1 Feather ACSS kamisori style, 2 new & 12 vintage western straights with various grinds from near wedge, quarter, full to extra hollow. I want to better master & enjoy the various razors, strops, brushes, soaps & several hones that I've collected this past year. I'd like to quit "saving" so much money and experience the Zen satisfaction of mastering what I already have. Thanks to all the fine folks for sharing in this forum because this past year much has been learned by coming to SRP and using the search function to learn from the discoveries of others. I would like to begin working on the real ins and outs of honing. No longer just touch ups, but re-sharpening and polishing. Setting bevels. Really get into the science of honing as well.
I just started my SR journey 6 days ago, I have to say no going back to cartridges for me!
I want to learn how to hone, and how to get better at stropping. I want to let others know about SR shaving!!!
I want to get better at keeping my straights pretty. Even though I try to follow advice from the forums, my blades tend to accrue spotting, and my pivots get loose.
My couple of razors are plain-jane workhorses, but if I can clean them up and learn to keep them up well, then I'll feel better about shelling out for a "showcase" razor or two. (Or three.)
My resolution will be "spend no more on SR stuff", which automatically means I WILL spend more on SR stuff :rofl2:
I need to breakdown and buy a vintage LIVI razor finally before I turn 70.

I'm going to learn to quit nicking parts of my ears when I shave with a freshly honed and stropped blade.
I'll try not to cut my throat while learning to shave myself.
I just read elsewhere that a friend doesn't call them resolution, he calls them "casual promises to himself that he's under no legal obligation to fulfill". Thought that about summed up my resolution to spend no more on SR gear.
Build up my workshop and improve my honing abilities.
My first resolution is not to buy anything new for the full year of 2014 other than replenish on after shave. Of everything else, I have enough to last easily a year or more. I have one new Custom brush on the way which was ordered a couple of weeks ago and 4 brand new straights, all shave ready.
This resolutionw as a bit a difficult one as I was eyeing one or two Leather strop replacements from the SRD shop for my 3" Latigo strop. I initially wanted to experiment a bit with a different surface and see which ones from the selection would come closest to the feel I am getting from my Kanayama #3 strop. This will also have to wait as I really have basically one strop per straight on active duty.
So, no buying of either hard- nor software this year other than replenish AS once existing stock is nearing depletion.
My second resolution is to take my first steps into the world of honing and be able to produce a nice sharp but smooth edge on my factory-edged NOS TOWA.
Buy less razors, less eBay. More hones, more restorations, more practice! With this will come more fun with SRP buds!
Firstly, improve my honing of difficult razors (bad/uneven hone wear).
Try to make my own shaving soap and piece together a prototype modular razor/brush stand. my woodworking skills are only so so :shrug:
Start some scale work for restores.
If I accomplish 1/2 of these, I will be extremely pleased!
