Paying it forward - please bare with me

I am pleased and grateful to say that I have learned a lot here on this forum. I started learning about wet products, moved into DE and just started SR. I have asked several (foolish) questions but I have gotten many patient answers.

As as I have progressed I have discovered a couple of friends who are interested in wet shaving. Everyone has their own reasons. I have been able to pass on much of what I have learned here. Makes me look smarter for my friends :rock:.

recently, one of my friends who has expressed interest has been going through a rough separation from his wife. They are trying to be civil for their boys, it has been rough for both. He is not the kind of man who does much to treat himself. He buys his clothes wisely from thrift stores so his boys have the nice clothes and multiple sports teams.

i found a nice Gillette DE at an antique store a couple weeks ago. My first intention was to clean it up and have fun shaving with it between SR shaves. My friend cam over this past weekend and we started talking about wet shaving. I showed him what I bought for next to nothing. His jaw dropped and his eyes lit up. He started talking about his birthday in a couple of months and how he was going to bite the bullet and buy some things for himself

i finished cleaning the razor yesterday and getting it polished up. I put the razor back into its case with a single package of blades. I gave it to him last night after scout meeting as an early birthday gift. He was about to cry. He ran around showing it off to everyone he could.

Very good example for the Scouts!

It is nice to help someone in such times of their lives. I sold a 5/8 Winchester in faux bone scales to a guy at work for $40. Just to get him started. His friend bought my DD Dwarf the next week. $40 also. I didn't shave with them any more and didnt have that much in them to begin with. I'm just glad they want to learn the wet shave too. It's fun to have someone to talk face to face with about it.

Just wanted to add a kind of P.S. To my first post. I love giving gifts that mean something. Sometimes the gift might seem off the wall to others but it makes sense to the person I am giving it to (I hope).

I shared this story because I have been reading so many similar stories here. Either people extending the gifts but more commonly, the people who receive the gifts.

The gifts here are given with the "expectation" that the receipant will "pass it on" when they are able. Obviously if you only have one razor (RAD has not kicked in) , gifting your only razor is a bit extreme. But I have read many stories of gifts of razors, strops, soaps, etc. I did not want to break the tradition good people started.

There is too much garbage out in the world everywhere people go. This one of my small refuges where people act right. It is something I want to do naturally.

I just wanted to add one more example of what is right to the countless numbers before me, and the countless numbers to follow.
