mytoolstore.com/Tool Shack in Las Vegas...?

This is going to be a bloody strange post, and Mods please feel free to move this to another location, but it's difficult to categorize...

Late last week I received a package from H. Gerstner and Sons containing the lovely wooden chest pictured below. Ideal for storing straight razors. I did not order this for myself, nor indeed know of it's existence. The invoice listed third party billing to "MyToolStore.com dba Tool Shack" in Las Vegas, NV. It appears someone has bestowed upon me a fine and generous gift, and I have no idea who.

I would like to be able to identify the giver so that I may give them my thanks.

If this person, or anyone knowing a member associated with Tool Shack in Las Vegas would contact me either here in the thread or via PM, this great mystery will be solved, and I will be able to extend my heartfelt thanks for such a fine gift.

This forum is full of the nicest, most helpful people I've ever encountered in a large group. Enjoy that Mike, as I have a couple of things that have surprised me in my mailbox over the last 2 1/2 years.

PS -- I had nothing to do with it.

I would be highly suspicious - clearly somebody is trying to make you fill it up with razors.

Fortunately I have enough razors to fill it up to the brim already, so just send it over and save yourself the huge expense it requires not to mention the countless hours trying to find just the right razors... :)

That's good thinking gugi, but i find that having downsized my collection to not more than 14 at one time, it's doing a lovely job of storing 3-4 straights per drawer, no clutter, no bald spots. But I thank you for the suggestion. It's good to know folks have their thinking caps on :D

Did you rule out relatives as possible gifters?

Did you go over your list of friends that use straights and would know your brick and mortar address?

That is a sweet gift indeed. Somehow the mystery will unwind for you. Or not.

I should add, I did call Gerstner and MyToolStore.com. Gerstner could only say the order came from the MyToolStore website, and MyToolStore says they simply can't release the information as it was purchased with a credit card, and Privacy Act, confidentiality, blahblahblah...

The Tooth Fairy brought it,, :rofl2:

Just checked it out on their site. Really nice. And a pretty penny for small item storage. Looks like 4-5 per drawer. So 35-40 in the drawers, and miscellaneous items or soap pucks in the top.

PS, it wasn't me either.

Hi guys - I'm one of the owners of MyToolStore.com. I get Google Alerts when my company name comes up. We're a 3rd generation family business, and yes, we do sell Gerstner chests. I bought my son one for Christmas. We love the chests because they are also a family-owned business, made in the USA (for the most part).

But since we're a family-owned business, our marketing is actually limited .... We did send entropy1049 his chest, and cannot break the confidentiality of our customers, but do sense that his original guesses might not be that far off? If a customer wants to pull a tooth-fairy, though, who are we to spoil the fun?

We don't have the money to do marketing on blogs, it's very time-intensive and we're not a big box store in size or marketing budget.

I probably won't have time to check back for comments to this post, as we are hard at work re-launching our website with more modern bells and whistles, coming in December.
