This Mentor is DONE!
That's Right! DONE! The work hasn't been appreciated and rarely rewarded of late, so I'm resigning. Actually I have already turned in my resignation.
After 36+ years with a Corporate Chain Grocery Store I have decided to retire!
I've was raised to take pride in my work and I have. However I can't hunker like I used to and Corporate Demands just keep getting more and more ridiculous so instead of being 'sub par' I chose to retire.
Right now it's very surreal but I'm sure reality will ever so slowly set in.
It will be several months until my union pension starts so things will be very tight. This means that I won't be able to help newbies and others like I have in the past. However I'm hopeful that once things settle down I can once again be helping others.
I was asked by my manager if this is what I really wanted to do and I said ' I don't know' but there is only one way to find out if it will work.
It's going to be an interesting event as I've worked outside the home since I was 11 years old; hoeing gardens, shoveling snow off of sidewalks, mowing lawns, pulling rye from wheat fields. Hell I had my first Social Security Job at age 15.
