HHT Materials?
I just restored an old Ever-Ready brush and put the knot hairs in a baggie thinking this would work for HHT Materials. Do you all think this is a good way to do this test? Or is this Old Boar Hair a bit on the course side for this purpose?

If you have a wife or gf: get the hairs from her brush.

I tried that but her hair is thinner than mine. Married to an old lady. Well, I'm old too so what the hell.
-
I never took pics but I found boar hair quite damaging to an edge when I tried it.
Thin hair is good as it's hard to cut unless the blade is properly sharp

I take them from my daughters brush. You really want a consistent source of hairs because different hairs will give different results.

I bought a real hair fall from a beauty supply house.
Three types of human hair in one fall.
Cost 5$ on sale at "Sally'" supply that allows non licensed person to buy cosmetic items.

Both my wife and I are late 60's. Her hair is long and very fine. If the edge cuts her hair it will surely shave well.

You guys have a good point about the thin hair. Guess I'll go back to the wife's brush and toss the boar. I had no idea that boar hair would cause damage to an edge. Interesting!
The beauty supply house for some hair is a good option too. Might check into that. If its all the same hair. As consistency is needed for testing.

Years ago I'd try hanging hair. Pull one out of my hair brush. Real fine hair so when I couldn't get HHT I figured that was it. Then one day, I saw a DE blade that I had used a half dozen shaves and laid on the countertop.
I had just tried HHT with my straight razor, and no soap. So I picked up that used up DE blade and that old thing cut HHT on that fine hair to beat the band. That was when I knew it wasn't the hair ........ it was the honer ! :gaah:

Well, sense you put it that way. Wonder if the thinckness of the DE blade made much difference in that. Makes you want to hone more dont it.
