Hey guys :)
Thanks to Geezer and Sharptonn I just made a donation to the Movember SRP USA team.
The back story is that a few weeks ago at Rolodave's razor meet Geezer came in with a whole bunch of hones for sale. A really nice Coticule and a bout caught my eye! :) When I asked him how much $$$ he said to simply make a donation to Movember. So, I just did!
So this donation is actually because of Geezer's generosity.
Thanks Richard! :)
Nice gents!
:tu
Well done.
Awesome, Men! Atta BOY!! :D

The Coticule felt right at home with the others :)

Thanks so much for the donation Randy!!
And to you Richard for putting items out there for just a donation to the cause :tu
You're a dang fine man my friend
Thanks so much Tim!!!! For donating, and being persistent until you got to :tu
A good cause and my good friends here made me want to keep trying.
I am glad all the tries didn't add up though. I was a little worried about that......:rofl2:
I haven't been feeling my 100% up to snuff but I finally signed up for this year & joined our US team. Rock on fellow members!
What's happened to the "MOVEMBER 2017" badges below our user names?
Yeah where is it?

Can we get some progress pics?
Here you go. 24 days growth....

So it's the last day of Movember tomorrow and I think I'm going to keep my 'tache for a while longer.
Will post a photo of the full months growth.
I have been trying to post on my Facebook from the Movember site. It seems we can post but cannot control the text. I wanted to control the text. Why?
I challenged my Facebook friends to sponsor me as I rode my bicycle during the month. I sent them periodic updates with links to a map of the ride but since I could not control the message my friends were unable to credit us for the donation. The national organization did get the funds so all is good but it would be nice to control the text.
Another Movember comes to a close...
I'd like to thank the Mods - Bruno, Os, Ivan, Ed for all of the "back office" work and a special shout out to Dave/Dieseld for stepping in, cheer leading and much more.
It has been a "interesting" Movember/November for me this year - keeping me away from the Forum but also reminding me why the work that Movember does is so important. Although I've been blessed with good heath those reminders have come from family and friends that are like family.
For me the SRP community represents the very best of what this InterWeb thing can do and be, and I'm a better person for having become a part of this.
Be well my Brothers...
I'd also like to add a big THANKS!!!!!To everyone who participated in the auctions. Whether donating or bidding, you guys made this the success it was :tu
And thanks to Tom (sharptonn) for also helping me keep the threads at the top of the list. Appreciate your help greatly my friend
Also to all the Mentors who also had a big part in helping get this going and doing what they could for the cause
We did double if not a bit more the funds raised over last year :tu
Great job gents!!!!
CHEERS TO YOU ALL!!!!!!!!!!
Thank you so much guys!
First, for those like me who grew their 'stache. And second for the amazing donors. I never though I'd blow my small fundraising goal, and oh boy I was wrong.
:beer1:
This morning, my mustache was gone... I just haven't found a way to like it. As they say in this forum, YMMV :)
Here's a little Movember reminiscence now I'm clean-shaven.
Nice work everybody!

Regarding Movember initiatives fir 2018, as well as what happened to the 17 badges I’ve been having initial chats with Ivan. Badge may need a facelift for long time supporters, lest our signatures start to look silly. That may require some I.T. support. Not my forte..
For this year, same as last, we will need country captains to link their respective sites to the palace.
We will start a 2018 thread towards the end of August to really try to harness the collective energies and altruism of the members here..
Start tuned men.
Retroactive would be my view.
Like the idea of hovering for years served too, that’d be a neat subtlety.
Thanks for taking this bull by the proverbial horns, Mike!
It is much appreciated! :bow
I guess before anything is done, we need to figure out who's taking the lead this year.
Don't need a repeat...........
Good point Dave. I assume there need be country captains again as local creators of their respective sites on the mo network.
Where we will gain traction this year as a forum is if we have a point person within SRP creating the badge/banners for participants that work with our servers, as well as media relations to other sites or sponsors to help motivate members to donate or bid on raffle items created for the event. Movember Thread management, etc..
You are doing a bang up job on the monthly raffle currently Dave so would think you the natural choice for the mo movement drive this year if you have the time once more..
:chapeau
That's the main issue. It seems to me that the problem with a thick stack of badges over the years is directly the result of using the functionality built-in the software. To make it better we'll have to either figure out some other creative way to utilize the software, or we'll have to add on customization to achieve it.
The problem is using separate badge for each year, so it seems that the solution is to compress the repeating information of 'movember' into a single badge and only add the years to it.
I like your idea with the years one has participated in to only show as an overlay on mouse-over. Another thing off the top of my head is to compress the individual years to a single number of years, so we can have movember for 1,2,3,4,5,etc. years (we can also use different colors but that may be too much). There'll be a loss of information, for example people will have the same badge 'movember 2yr' whether they've participated in 2011 and 2017, or in 2016 and 2018. But this can be done with the built-in functionality.
Customizing the software complicates things both in having to create the customization in the first place, and then having to maintain it - as you noted every time we get a new release we'll have to customize it, ensure compatibility, resolve any conflicts or issues. It's not the end of the world but it's an extra work. With well written/packaged customization the work can be minimized but not eliminated.
I like the idea of number of years sounds cleaner looking. But i know nothing of the details in what it takes to make and keep this computer magic happening. All i can say is it would look cleaner.
Mike, first off thanks Brother!! :tu
I'll step in and do what I can to help out. We just need to be sure this year, probably starting now, we get our ducks in a row.
It is pretty simple to get things going and work with our Mo-Bros for things in their end.
Let me see what is actually going on with other memebers here and we'll take it from there.
It seems that we may be better rolling out own variant of the forum software so that we can prevent these hiccups.
I assume this issue was intended to be addressed before this became an issue
Do we have a sandbox? Or would we have to make that.
Do we just want to customize the current version and maintain that or build it from the ground up, both would be equally as difficult. Because one you have to read and understand all code written by someone else then customize it and the other would be desired what features you want, decide how to implement and start typing.
