Thread: What to look for in a shave den cabinet?

I agree with those that say it should not be in the bathroom if you have a place in the bedroom where a proper cabinet/shelf combination would be acceptable to both of you that would be best. If not, as a compromise, you might consider a smaller version of what you posted in the bathroom for aftershave, brushes and soaps, with a drawer(s) for odds and ends -- styptic, , DE blades, etc.

I'm going to have to disagree. If a person has things they think are worth displaying, then for them they're probably not considered "mediocre", but instead are valued possessions. Build it to suit you and your wife, pincorrect (and plan to expand it).

I recently picked up this Curved Glass hanging curio cabinet. It was made and sold by The Bombay Company, so there are a lot of them out there.

They sold originally for about $200-300 in the 90’s and you can find them for under $100. I have seen them at antique stores and flea markets, but are usually pretty beat up. It is 25X21X6. I will remove the shelves and like the mirrored back.

This one is near pristine. I have been looking for ideas for razor storage and do like the Zilla system for holding razors, though I am thinking of slotting the top bracket that will hold the razor at 45-degree angle and back a few degrees to keep in place. I am looking to stuff as many razors as I can in it.

It is 25X21X6. I will remove the shelves and make new supports, I do like the mirrored back. and plan to add a lock, for the grand kids.

I am already looking for another, for brushes. This is not my cabinet, it is an ebay photo, mine is in storage.

Now that is a seriously nice looking cabinet. Congrats!

Maybe something like Mike's nice cabinet with drawers would work on the dresser. (Perhaps a bit smaller in my case.) Was this custom-made for straight razors?

Sure is. I remember the Bombay Company. There was one in our nearby mall. Maybe still is, but it must have been a year since I have stepped foot in the mall.

I like that idea. It might be easier to find something off the shelf made for fountain pens. I like the idea of drawers, like the one in Mike's picture.

What might be even better would be drawers that supported the razors at the front and the back, but had open bottoms instead of a bottom panel. Then you could tuck dessicant packs in the very bottom, below the lowest drawer, and the air could circulate throughout. I wonder if anyone makes one like that?

Those are some nice cabinets in this thread! If little ones have a chance to go near it, you might want to consider a lock for the cabinet.

Then the bathroom cabinet can have the soap bowls, aftershaves, brushes etc.

Its a jewelry box, converted to hold razors.
