Where Do You Guys Store Your Razors?

I'm wondering where you folks all store your razors? The ones in your weekly rotation? The ones that you might have in a two week rotation and the ones of course that you just like to look at?

I would like to put a cabinet with a glass door on it for say a weekly rotation and mount it in our ensuite which is where I shave. I'm retired and my wife is almost there. Kids are grown and all the grandkids are old enough to know the no-touche rule. However that doesn't account for the 'I'm curious as hell' rule.
I would just like to have at the very least my weekly rotation on display where I shave. We don't use the ensuite to shower, we use the main shower so not much worry off a lot of humidity. Just curious what other folks do.
For years all my razors sat in a clump in a locking cabinet in my office in the basement.

Ideas thoughts suggestions and pics would be awesome!

8 razor rotation

I've got 2 main locations for my razors in rotation:
1. For most of my real "lookers," a cabinet I got from a guy on Etsy Christmas before last.

2. I keep about 20 others in a nice cigar box with the 10-compartment trays that work just perfectly for razors:

Of course I've got a number of others in various sleeves, holders and roll-up carriers, plus another bunch around my drawers and shop in various stages of assembly/disassembly-probably time to sell a few. Got some hones I need to fund anyway! :idea:

Wow! nice looking storage. All of them. I don't have a whole lot of space something self contained like Bouschie has, my wife could live with. That cigar box idea is a good idea. That might work too. Something larger and more elaborate would have to go in my office/cave in the basement. If I nail an old cigar box to the wall though I'm sure I'll never hear the end of it.:argue:

You guys have some way cool stuff in your razor stash storage though. Mine would look pretty utilitarian by comparison. I have one shaving bowl/scuttle. Bouschie, by the looks of what I can see in the pic you posted I count six!!! :dropjaw: I'm lucky to get away with one on the counter top.

That’s a classic razor box Paul. They come up for auction, but are usually in pretty rough shape. Is your vintage or made to look vintage? Either way, it’s a beauty.

I like to use jewelry boxes.

What did you use for the dividers? Balsa? Are they just glued in place without any notching?

I have seen Mike's Chest of Blades with my own eyes. It is a sight to behold :bow

I went with test tube racks in the shave den. I have a bunch in knife rolls as well but these are my favs.

I keep a little mineral oil on them and they all get inspected every few months. The ones in the knife rolls are covered in wax.

Just saw this in the grocery store. It would take a little modification to widen the slots but it seemed like a possibility.

I'd really like to try for a garage sale chest of drawers or something I can adapt, but I think I will try and make something. Maybe top drawer for my purchased 'new' blades: 6, and my bought on Ebay to be restored blades: 12.

Smoking pipe racks work similar to the test tube racks.

Harbor freight sell a small chest for machine tools. I almost got one of those until i found out id fill it plus some when i bought it and would still need more room.

I went to the store thinking of buying one of these but when I saw the quality of the display piece I changed my mind.

Yeah, the only quality modern production chests are the Made in USA Gerstners, and those cost a pretty penny.

A decently priced vintage chest can occasionally be found, I think I paid around 100$ for mine.

I have a relatively affordable cabinet from a bargain furniture store (was in vietnam at the time). i had a friend help make some trays in mdf to hold the razors with a small cnc machine and put these on drawer runners.
it holds about 45 razors - i rotate the bottom tray every few weeks and keep about 5-6 'at the front of the queue'. This lower tray also has a blue (waterproof paint) well, a place I put that days razor, after cleaning with alcohol, stropping and letting it dry laying open, until the next razor is used.
Similar tray is below that holding some of my favourite stones.

These 5-6 razors stay dry for about 2-3 weeks at a time and I keep the others oiled or waxed. I also have 3-4 basic lacquered trinket boxes with waxed razors and dessicant packs in the bottom of another wardrobe, these dont see much daylight and are not used.
The lower drawers are full of soap and the lowest with some maintenance tools like alcohol, cloths, pastes, honing stands/holders, loupe, DMt's etc. I have my daily strops hanging off the left hand side and the opposite side between teh cabinet and the window, i keep pasted strops /portions of strops that are treated away from the regular ones.

although not the most decorative or full of character, this works for me - an airy cupboard, outside the bathroom and in a corner of the bedroom. i have space to strop comfortably as well and all away from little prying hands
