Where is your favorite place to pick up razors. I see alot of razors that I have not heard off but that look really nice in the Shave of the day section here. Just wondering where you guys like to go to get different kinds of razors. I mean razors that are not normally found on ebay so toss out dubl ducks, W&B, Dovo, TI, etc.
I like all of these razors but am curious about all of the rest. Anyone heard of Revisor?
Revisor, absolutely. Have one. Wish I had a bunch more. I believe I remember someone saying that they were a semi-generic brand in that several Solingen makers made the Revisor razors. At any rate, I purchased mine from J Crowley at shavingshop.com when he had a bunch of them, it was well balanced and a very good shaver. Now this is just my experience, others may vary. I see them a lot on the Bay, and the price seems to have sky-rocketed for them - but if you keep an eye out you can find a good deal (saw a good 5/8 sell for 42 bucks the other day - and I think that is a great deal given the prices these have been fetching).
Best place I have found for razors is flea markets and here, got to say.

OF course, I am not detracting from the professional vendors, that is an excellent place to get new and sometimes vintage razors - I wasn't trying to imply that my experiences with John or any of those vendors was bad! I think I have now purchased razors or accessories from all fo them, and if you are looking for a kit, don't forget Tony at the Well Shaved Gentleman, bought my first razor from the man, strops are killer.
BUT, if you are looking for those gems that are sometimes cheap and maybe classic, nothing beats a good flea market (I have made several startling cheap discoveries in flea markets) and the Ebay route, which is getting rarer and rarer. Of course you rolls your dice and you takes your chances. Don;t discount the Bay though, I have found some marvelous, off brand fantastic bargains there - and some really good named razors, that were just overlooked. Also, in my razor wanderings, I have made sure that I search ALL of the language boards, those german razors are awesome, and those guys will ship anywhere in the world - I just have to get the search terms right, and get a decent translation of the page!
For top notch service and great, albeit not necessarily cheap razors, definitely go for the above vendors.

I purchased many of my razors from sellers here on SRP. Bill Ellis, as already mentioned, is a great source for restored vintage razors. You have to keep an eye on his site though because they go fast when he puts them up. Joe Chandler used to sell restored razors, but I'm not sure if he's doing that anymore since launchig his own brand (still have to get one of those!).

I aquire razors from members here, Ebite, and now from family members :D . I've got a good idea of the styling I like and watch of those to pop up as well as a few that I'm curious about (Salamander, Pipe). The ones from family are just that, what ever they are is good enough for me.
Antique fairs/flea markets/gun&knife shows are my best sources. Most do need work, be careful because "patina" can hide a cracked blade.
