Sharp!

A mate of mine was in Japan on a business trip a couple of years ago. His host brought out a samurai sword to show off. To demonstrate its sharpness he draped a piece of tissue paper over the upturned blade; before his eyes the paper slowly cut under its own weight!

Now, I didn't see it with my own eyes but I am inclined to believe it ('cause it sounds cool).

Now that I've discovered razors, I'm wondering if such sharpness has been achieved or can be achieved with a straight razor. Anyone have any experiences with such insane levels of sharpness??

I believe it could be true but am surprised they would have put paper to the blade tissue or not. You may or may not know this but paper is one of the enemies of a sharp knife.

I guess though it was the best way to demonstrate as the old style for testing sharpness is no longer employed. :)
