I have around 50 razors though none are collectors items and I don't have a passion to collect them, they are for shaving. Pipes and tools are a different matter though :)
My paying $760 for an escher is small fry compared to what I have paid for a pipe in the past. If you get the collecting bug you will find that money is no object for that one item needed to complete or enhance a collection. I hope you have a wife like mine if collecting becomes your passion :)

Well, my wife is not the problem. If we had so much money that handing over 760$ for a non essential item was not a problem, then my wife would be perfectly happy to let me buy razors, hones and computer hardware t my heart's content.
Is more than one razor essential :)

Wellllll... why don't we ask Lynn that question? :roflmao
Every razor I collect must be a really good shaver as well.........
Everyone should have just one razor..............JUST ONE MORE !!
Have fun,
Lynn
Looks like I'm the oddball :D . I've been picking up str8 razors at flea markets and "collectables" shows since the early '80s . I've been fascinated with str8s since I was a child and have always wondered what it would be like to actually shave with one . I didn't have the balls to try , because I had no clue as to how to do it , and I didn't think it would be too smart to put something that sharp on my face and try to shave with it , without knowing what I was doing . I stumbled onto this forum while looking for info on razors in my modest collection , and the rest is history :y
No I don't collect just one razor, I get them in twos. Last month two puma, two TI, Two Henkels, Two Dixie, at least I tell myself , try them both, and sell one. I usually can't pick though.

Well boys,
when I got the bug to use the straight some months ago I went through all my gear and found I had 7 or 8 razors, mostly Bengals, and an Invicta Coronett. I also had a victorian era scuttle and a good strop all I had to find was a hone which I bought from and antique store for just a few dollars. I guess what I am saying is razors seem to collect me !!!
Cheers all :)
I started out just looking to try str8 shaving. I'm now somewhere past fifty blades; many are future restoration projects or to practice restoring. And, at the moment, I'm awaiting the arrival of about five ebay purchases (I just love those duckies!). Good thing I'm single...
