Yup....its sharp!

So I bought a razor from Sarty24 about a week ago. I had honed it, and gotten it shaving well. So today I figured that (while watching Voyager) I would polish it up a bit. Not too much (I like the old look) but enough to take off a few years. I an rubbing away, and in the middle of doing the first side......................I slip.


Yeah, you get the picture. Blood dripping almost streaming onto the floor. The razor goes flying across the room. Before I could even get to the sink, I had spilled at least a tablespoon of blood across the floor. LOL So now I have a slice across the tip pf my right index finger. It was only about a half inch long, but it went all the way to the bone.

So the lesson kids............Star Trek......THEN razors. ROFL

man thats terrible. Polish your razors with a dremmel. I'm sure next time you will make sure to do your polishing before you hone. hope that wounds heals up quickly.

Yep. They certainly don't muck around. Ouch!

It's best to polish before honing as it is very difficult to avoid damaging the edge. Plus the blade is easier to handle when you do it. I learned that from experience - fingers bleed lots.

look at the bright side, you honed it well!! good job!

Thanks guys! Oh, the razor was not hurt at all from the flight. I have no idea how, but it landed closed and the edge did not get so much as a scratch!

So the razor is lucky, but I am not. LOL

I did that once, honed a razor and THEN restored
it. Sanded the edge completely away. No matter,
you still have to be careful with them because
they are sharp either way, though a freshly honed
one is bound to cut quicker. Glad to see you
didn't ruin the razor. Get well soon :tu .

I learnt early on not to call my razors I was selling on ebay sharp.
But a razor that is blunt for shaving can still cut you up bad.
A shave ready just cuts you up worse!

Another tip for blade handling when you don't require extreme and delicate control (examples: buffing, sanding) buy a pair of thin kevlar gloves sold most commonly in sporting goods stores and used to protect against cuts while cleaning fish. They cost approx $20.

Hearing of your deep cut makes me want to look harder in my tackle boxes since I've only found one of my two kevlar gloves. I want to wear BOTH!!!!:eek:
