Ive seen this before, and I think its a great article. Not alot of experiments and pictures of edges had the "before and after" shots of stropping. Id love to see this redone today with better quality pics on color and a wideer array of blade types. Thanks for posting this.

Just goes to show that guys have been thinking about these subjects for a long time.

I thought it was funny that in the second article, he mentioned what we call a 'pasted strop' and said he didn't know how it worked but it did. :)

In the light of the above article, it seems as the strop should be well greased, so that stropping After the shave greases the edge slightly thus preventing rust.

Just a thought, and if a well greased strop (and by "well greased I don't mean a layer of some fat, but more like a really smooth and shiny leather surface.) works as a strop should, well, I guess one has to try and see!
