    Default Getting Started

I am new to this site and the idea of Wet shaving. My barber asked me today if I have ever had a straight shave and it got me checking into it. If i was going to get started, probably with a DE, can i get some advice on razors, brushes, shaving cream and after shave? I have no idea where to begin. I don't want to start off real expensive, but i want good for the money.

    Thanks

First and foremost, a hearty welcome to SRP. Don't be afraid to ask questions. The only dumb question is the one not asked.

Check the Vendors Corner forum on ths site for shave creams and soaps, aftershaves, etc. If you are looking for a DE then please check the DE forum. Also, there are some in classifieds as well. Classic Shaving, Straight Razor Designs, Vintage Blades, and many other vendors sell them too. Brushes can be had for $10 or less. Like everything else in life, the prices can go from relatively little to ones that only Bill Gates can afford. Determine what your budget is, then figure out how best to stay within it.

There's lots of information on this site. Take the time to read it. Then list what your needs are and go for it. If you really want to do straights then you should look at doing just that. There is a big difference in the skillset required for straights versus DE's.
