I have pondered about working pt at AOS...

I have pondered about working part time at The Art Of Shaving...to cure my hatred for that place! I don't know if I would actually do it but have seriously have considered it. I figured they need someone to work there that actually knows what the heck they are talking about. Someone to properly educate people about proper wet shaving technique and razor sharpness. I feel sorry for the poor peeps that walk in there only to be misinformed. On the other hand, I would probably get fired for referring them to the classifieds or Classic shaving to buy their first razor, lol! I guess I could talk them into sending all their TI's to Lynn prior to selling them at the shop. I just really wish they would hire or at least train their staff to honestly know how to shave properly and hire a barber that uses one themselves. I don't know why I have such an issue with that place. I know it's a good thing because it does promote wet shaving and the atmosphere makes you really want to get into wet shaving when you're in there. My bad experience with them prior to finding this site has just stuck with me all along I guess. I am soooooo glad I found this site and Lynn's shop (SRD) before I gave up SR shaving all together. I don't know anything about the place, but it seems quite expensive. I guess you can't really blame the staff for the training they get, or for not being particularly interested - that happens every where. It's a shame that it's not managed in a way that makes the staff want to be interested. One thing I love about places like the body shop is the staff all seem quite enthusiastic about the products, I've had staff go and find other staff who they know use a product or their partner does or what ever - that's pretty cool.

They must be doing something right to be able to offer $1200 brushes!

The gent working told me he had never used a straight. He uses the same fusion 6 blade psychotic hunk of crap, that pushed me to the point where I stopped shaving in November after I quit working retail. Since I am going to basic training for the Army this Aug. and will be shaving everyday for at least the next six years, I figured I should enjoy shaving.

Working at most places is more likely to cause hatred than cure it!:rofl2: And knowing what you are talking about can be a serious liability when you start a new job. But maybe it's worth a try. As long as you start out as cynical as me you can only be pleasantly surprised! :D

It's likely you would be fired. Management and other employees would be annoyed with you for knowing what you are talking about. You would make them uncomfortable with your ability to make use of actual experience.
