I'm just now realizing that I would love to try a straight razor after becoming frustrated with my safety razor. I was wondering if anyone could point me in the right direction for a low-cost razor and supplies. Any help would be awesome, I'm really not sure of how to start.
I am new here too, just browse the forums, that should give you plenty of information to start with.

Think about why you're frustrated with the safety razor. The str8 is a much larger committment. You not only need to learn to shave, but learning to maintain the razor is a much larger committment.
If you frustration is due to the need to learn technique or the learning curve involved, you'll find a lot ore of that with str8s.

The best values out there are on ebay, but they're 1 in 100 and good luck finding them. Then there's achieving the edge and maintaining it on steel constructions you're unfamiliar with using. The BEST option out of the gate is to get a honed razor form a member and a strop to keep it keen.
Read the files (yes all of them) and you'll know what you're getting in to. Not only that, but you'll learn A LOT about what shaving is about. It's traditional knowledge that we're propogating and you're welcome (hell, I'd encourage you) to participate.
