posibilities?

so let's say u get a SR prehoned... and the leather strap.

can u maintain it sharp just with those pastes ? do u need another paddle for the paste?do u need several paddles dor diferent pastes? how does it work,i have read alot here in the forum bot still cant fugure it out :D

Pasting a strop is semipermanent, so you will need a seperate strop for the paste.

The general consensus is that a pasted strop lets you get away without a hone for a bit longer, but at some point you will have to refinish the edge on a finishing hone.

I prefer a pasted paddle strop to a pasted hanging strop because, IMO, a pasted hanging strop rounds the bevel more than a pasted paddle, which means more time spent with the hones when re-honing is needed.

thanks, so... if i shave 2-3 times a week how long will i get away until my first hone will be needen im just making an idea i dont wanna split any hairs here :P

Well I've been using (primarily) one razor since I started (the same time I joined here) shaving 3 or 4 times a week and my razor still seems to be just as sharp as when I got it. Of course it will vary depending on your razor, technique, beard, all kinds of things.

for how long are you using your razor and what kind of razor is it? model,stell.... etc

but doesn't a more rounded edge make for a more forgiving shave?.. just my 2 cents...

or is that not good and paddles are better than hanging strops?

Shaving as infrequently as you do, it's not inconceivable that you could go six months, or even longer, before needing to hone. There are so many variables that will have a bearing on the matter that it's really impossible to give an accurate estimate.

ok thanks. i just shave on 3rd day or 2nd if i gotta look tip top coz my beard doesn't grow very quick but it's rough,i blame creams :D

The razor I am using is a 5/8 Red Point from Solingen, I shave 3 or 4 times a week, standard 3 pass shave every time. I have a 100% average beard, nothing too thick and crazy.
